Here you’ll be engaging with a colourful and classic aesthetic, meaning that you’ll come across the recognisable symbols of various fruits, not to mention the joker after which the game is named. These tiles will help you form winning combination, some of which can result in prizes worth 1,000 coins.

In It to Win It

If you’re anything like us, you don’t bother with the demo mode, you just jump straight on in and ride out the experience as best you can. Sometimes it works out well for you and other times you leave with nothing, much like how the risk opportunities can pan out. These double or nothing features give you the chance of changing the course of your game, but the risks are rather high.

As you’ve undoubtedly experienced in other slots, the gamble feature has a unique system: you win and the money is doubled, you lose and it gets taken away entirely. Sometimes once a round is started you have to see it through to the end, but with Random Joker you can leave whenever you want, with the winnings intact. That is assuming you’ve not already played your hand and already lost.

Fifth Reel Surprise!

Who doesn’t love a surprise, right?! The sudden rush of adrenaline as people spring the unexpected on you can be exhilarating (most of the time). Knowing all this, Merkur wanted to give you a piece of that experience back in the form of the joker – just as the title says, he can randomly appear.

When the wild icon fills the entire fifth reel, a bonus is given to users: golden versions of the wild will start to spring up, with the idea being to win 10 lines of golden wilds. If you manage to do just that, you get the highest payout of the game and can walk away with smug satisfaction.

Fruit Salad

The rest of the paytable isn’t as surprising, sadly, and so you’ll be getting cash wins with matches of between three and five icons. As always with slot machines, there’s a hierarchy of symbols, with the cherries, strawberries and raspberries at the bottom of the food chain.

Other fruit come into play, too, with the watermelon and pineapple taking place as second highest winning tiles of the board, second only to the joker himself. From this, you can see that little variance is coming your way, so expect fruit salad for various playthroughs to come.

Take ‘Em Down!

If you’re playing with Merkur, then it’s reasonable to assume that you like a challenge because this brand doesn’t play fair. They go in hard with the difficulty and you pay the price if you can’t keep up. And so why not increase the tempo even further and play with just a single winline; you can if you want to, for the winlines are unfixed.

The label rarely makes this change, and so we always savour the freedom of movement whenever the opportunity presents itself. Yes, it means we struggle to make the wins even more, but as the volatility is of a medium level to begin with, you shouldn’t be too frustrated.

Joke’s on You

When you play Random Joker, effectively you end up with egg on your face because you tend to put in more money than you get out. It’s great if you happen to be one of the lucky ones, but for the rest of us this slot is too taxing to play. We much prefer titles like Pirates Arrr Us or Pipeliner from Merkur.
