Hail Caesar!
Alright, so this game doesn’t really have anything to do with Caesar, and is instead just a product with the base theme of the Roman Empire. However, it does present a nicely familiar interface for its players, with its five reels and three rows. You’ll find that its here that the various different symbols of the game have been housed, starting with the frequently utilised A, J, K, Q and 10 icons. These are joined by the character symbols, starting with a Roman princess clutching on to a chalice of red wine. A second female joins her on the reels, her dark hair clasped back with golden jewels, and finally, there’s a Roman soldier who is holding on to a sword and shield.
You’ll find that there are also 40 separate pay lines included in the game, and these join in with the five reels and three rows worth of layout. These bet lines can easily be customised though, and this is done with the arrows to the right hand side of the ‘Lines’ box. In addition to this, you’re able to alter around the bet you place per round. This offers up a range of between $0.01 and $10 per active bet line. Therefore, if you have everything at their highest levels, you’ll be playing a maximum overall wager of $400 per round. There is also an ‘Auto Play’ button incorporated into the game, which gives you the chance to spin the reels 25 consecutive times at the same wager amount.
The Roman Conquest
There are a couple of special features included in this game, starting with its ‘Tumbling Reels Feature’. This can be witnessed from the moment you start forming winning combinations from standard symbols or scatter wins. It can be activated by wins forming on active and inactive bet lines, and after all wins are awarded, each of the icons included in the winning combination will disappear. This leaves empty positions, which will be filled by symbols falling from the top of the screen. Wins will then be re-evaluated and the tumbling reels will set off again. This continues until there are no further wins formed.
As well as this, there’s a wild icon integrated into Golden Odyssey alongside. The wild is the game’s own logo, and as such it will substitute for all others except for the scatter. A single one will also count as a double character symbol as well, and this will only appear on reels two, three and four.
Finally, the freespins round of the game is triggered by the aforementioned scatter icon. This is represented by the symbol that reads ‘Free Games’ on it. If you spin three of these in to any position on the reels, the freespins round will be instantly triggered. The scatter only shows up on the first, second and third reels, and you’ll be rewarded with between six and 16 freespins.
The Golden Age
It’s all fine and dandy to create a game with a certain theme behind it, but you also need to inject that theme thoroughly into the product itself. High 5 Games have managed to do this with quality graphics and animations, as well as some interesting special features as well. However, the specials are quite generic alongside the many other games from this developer. It wouldn’t hurt to change them up a little from time to time.
