Taking players on what it appears to be its very own version of the famed PGA Tour, Playtech has clearly invested heavily in Golden Tour, with player reviews showing that this may be the new king of course when it comes sports focused slot games.

Lining up the Tee

Golden Tour is all about the action on the green, as this game is focused solely on the game of golf. The actual design of the game attempts to mesh together the basic and the sophisticated, with this approach generally working quite well. At the very top of the screen you’ll see the game’s logo, which has the air of a golf club sign about it. Within this is some golden text that helps the game put out a little additional pop. Below that you’ll find a golf club and a golf ball, with such placed up against a golf course backdrop. Playtech really has done the game of golf justice here, as Golden Tour looks glorious.

The UI of Golden Tour looks the part, but the symbols aren’t quite on the same level. What you’ll see is a selection of generic looking icons that actually look slightly too smalls for the reels that they are featured upon. We can only wonder just how great this game might look if the symbols were up to par with the rest of Golden Tour.

A Hush Sweeps the Crowd

While it’s not a gameplay marvel by any stretch, there is no denying that Golden Tour is fun to play. Built across 5 reels and 3 rows, the game only makes 5 paylines available, but this ties into the fact that this medium variance title is supposed to present players with a challenge.

While there is no denying that Golden Tour has a “challenge factor”, it’s actually pretty welcoming on the cost front. The minimum pay in to cover all paylines is just 0.05, with the maximum bet being 25.00. High rollers might question the high-end options, but we are actually fans of the betting structure here.

Sinking the Putt to Win It All

Playtech is not a developer that deals in half-measures, with this coming through loud and clear within the bonus features of Golden Tour. The green and pink golf ball symbols act as the wild, which step in to replace other low value symbols in the game to complete a winning payline. Being honest, the wild symbol isn’t the show-stealing feature here, as it’s the scatters that will lead you to the game’s dedicated bonus round.

When you find three or more scatters, you can step up to the tee and attempt to hit the “Dollar Ball”. It may not represent the most interactive bonus game around, as you don’t actually have too much control over the outcome, but it’s fun and worth trying out nonetheless.

Armed with the Perfect Club

If this fun little game had a drawback, it would probably be within the game’s controls, as they are a copy and pasted job. Golden Tour could have really done with something more bespoke, with a control panel that actually fit the theme of the game. With something like that in place, it could have made what is a very good game great.

Golden Tour Scores a Hole in One!

Golf games really are shockingly rare finds within the world of online slots, with many developers steering clear of the sport. However, it appears that Playtech has taken on the challenge and have actually managed to create something really fun. Golden Tour could have been a dud and nobody would have batted an eyelid, but the game proves to be incredibly charming.

If you’re a fan of golf and want to experience the famous sport on the reels, Golden Tour is a game that has you covered!
