That’s the basis of Renegades by NextGen Gaming, a new online slot that is scheduled to be released in November 2017. This game is all about five characters who live just a little bit outside the mainstream. These heroines form the centerpiece of this machine, bringing players large wins and larger-than-life icons on the reels. Combine that with an action-based all ways gameplay system, and it is easy to see why this is a highly anticipated release.

Meet the Team

The Renegades video slot may not be out yet, but we’ve already gotten a good luck at who the stars of this machine will be. There are five main characters, all women, who all represent a different sort of “renegade” – heroines that are anything but ordinary. There’s Ivy the forest ranger, Freya the Valkyrie, Valda the dragon slayer, Harriet the pilot, and Raffaela, a gunslinger. In promotional materials, each one features a truly unique design that really brings out their various personalities and backgrounds.

NextGen usually does an excellent job of making sure their games are mobile-optimized, and we expect this machine to be no exception to that rule. Their no download needed, browser-based format makes it easy to play on anything from your desktop PC to an iPhone or other smartphone devices. While we don’t have final information on the various bet denominations you’ll be able to choose from, it does seem clear that both high rollers and low limit gamblers will be accommodated fairly well, and we expect a play for free version of the machine to also be made available to players.

Off to Save the World

Rather than use payline, the Renegades video slot machine is one of the many titles that uses an “all ways” format. In this case, the action is presented over the traditional 3×5 grid, so you’ll have 243 ways to win on every single spin. While there may be more ways to form winning combinations, the essential goal remains the same: match identical symbols from left to right across the reels, with longer combinations earning larger prizes.

From what we can tell, a number of gemstones will make up the lower-paying symbols on this game. For bigger wins, you’ll want to hit the various characters, each of which comes with their own prizes. The largest payouts are said to be attached to Freya, who can earn you up to 10x your spin bet should you manage to hit five in a row.

Living Large

There are a few special features that have the potential to help players increase their earnings on this title. For instance, there are wild symbols that act as substitutes, filling in anywhere they possibly can to complete winning paylines. These icons – as well as all of the normal prize-winning characters – can also appear in 3×3 versions that cover nine symbol positions, which can quickly lead to some huge payouts on many different lines.

Finally, you’ll also want to look out for bonus scatter symbols. Hit three or more, and you’ll be taken to a free spins bonus round, where you’ll get eight free plays. The biggest bonus feature is the fact that only one of the heroines will appear on the reels, with your lucky lady being chosen at random. This makes it much easier to complete high-paying combinations during the feature. It’s also possible to retrigger more free spins if you find more scatters during this round.

Rebel Yell

With five interesting characters and a solid set of gameplay elements, we’re looking forward to getting the chance to play Renegades sometime soon. If you’re looking for the newest and most innovative features, it doesn’t look like that’s what you’re getting here, but there’s still plenty of action and an interesting theme, which is more than enough to keep us interested in a new slots offering. We’ll be sure to post a full review as soon as possible to help you decide if this machine is right for you.
