Joker 8000 Slot Review

The look of this game really does get the memories flowing. It looks just like the fruit machines that used to be here, there and everywhere. New games may look a lot more spectacular with fantastic bonus games and animation, but it’s always good to see Microgaming develop games like this.

This is one of those games that would be played in a casino. The background to the game has a blurry representation of a casino with the posh carpet and the many slot games that everyone will be trying to win a jackpot on.

The game has just the three reels which is how these games were for decades. It has a total of five pay-lines for you to get some wins on. Playing the game costs between €1 and €100.

The symbols in the game really take me back as there’s the melons, cherries, lemons, bars and crowns. That’s all very traditional indeed but there are some features here that bring the game into the 21st century.

Crown Glory

Three of the crowns on a pay-line pays you 100x your line stake. Get three Bars and that rewards you with an 80x win and it’s 50x for three melons. As usual it’s the poor cherries that are the lowest paying symbols in this game. It’s not bad though because that’s still worth 20x your line bet. As you might have guessed the wins don’t come all that often but this can still be a profitable game to play.

The Joker symbol is really important here as it’s the scatter. Some of these Microgaming retro slots usually have a wild symbol, not many have a scatter but that’s what we have here. It’s a symbol you’ll definitely want to see a fair bit of as it triggers the bonus game.

Super Bonus Game

In games of this nature, it’s not that common for there to be a bonus game, so you’re really lucky with this slot

You need to be betting at least €10 on the spin of the reels to qualify for this. If you get a win of at least €20 then you are given the chance to play the Super Bonus Game. Your winnings get moved to the Supermeter that can be seen in the top left-hand corner of the screen. Each of the following spins will cost you €20 but If you can get at least two Joker symbols on the reels, you’ll receive a random multiplier of between 20x and 8000x. At any time, you can just go back to playing the base game. Just keep an eye on your budget and don’t get carried away trying to win a really big cash prize.

Go for the Gamble

When you are lucky enough to get a win in the base game, there’s the chance to double it in the gamble feature. You don’t have to go for this and if you want can just get yourself ready for the next spin of the reels with your win intact. If you feel a bit brave, then it’s time to play that rather familiar playing card guessing game. All you have to do is guess the colour of the hidden card (red or black) and if you are right then your win is doubled.

Now often this is a double or nothing bet but not in this game. You can decide to set aside some of your win and gamble the rest so at least you don’t have to lose everything if you make the wrong choice. Rather than this being a second screen game as if often the case with the more modern games, this one has a black spade and red diamond above the Joker 8000 logo that flashes before resting on the all-important end playing card.

Final View

A game that has a lot more to it than it may seem. The addition of the Super Bonus Game, a scatter and a gamble feature really adds to the enjoyment of playing this game. It has a great look to it and there are some good wins to be had here, so definitely give it a go.
