I do a lot of pub quizzes and now and then the question ‘name the four elements’ crops up. Well now all I need to do to remember them is think of this slot from Microgaming where those elements are the star of the show. They were described by Paracelsus in the 16th century you know, remember that the next time you’re down the Rose and Crown.
All the Elements of a Great Game
This is another excellent slot from Microgaming who have been releasing a whole string of impressive games for a couple of decades now. ‘Elementals’ has five reels and there are 20 paylines on which to try and get some good winning combinations. You don’t have to play all of those lines if you don’t want to. The cost of playing ranges from €0.20 if playing all the lines at minimum coin stake (just €0.01 if wanting to play just a single payline) and a maximum of €100 (that’s the €0.50 level placing a maximum of five coins on all 20 paylines). Look at your budget and go for a level you can afford to play at comfortably.
The symbols in the game mostly relate to the theme. There’s Gnome who looks a bit like The Thing in ‘Fantastic Four’, Undine who is the spirit of water (that’s another quiz question sorted out), Sylph, the Spirit of Wind who’ll hopefully blow some big wins in your direction and Salamandar, the spirit of fire. No playing cards here, instead there are five fruit symbols that are the lesser paying values in this game.
The top prize in this game is well worth winning. Five of the wild symbols on an activated pay line pays you 5000x the value of the coin you played on that spin of the reels.
Double Your Wins
Not a great deal of thought went into the wild symbol. It’s just a colourful looking one that has ‘Wild’ written on it. You’ll still be cheering though when it substitutes for other symbols to get you some winning combinations. Even better is the fact that when that does happen your win is doubled.
The scatter symbol in ‘Elementals’ is the crystal ball. Take a look into it and hope the future says five will appear anywhere on the reels and win you 200x your stake. An even more important symbol is the sunny ‘E’ that can help trigger the bonus game, more about that shortly.
Operating the game isn’t going to cause you any problems at all. As with several Microgaming slots you can play in either regular or expert mode. The only real disfference here is the fact that in expert mode you can use an autoplay feature.
Before you start pumping some hard earned cash into this game, find out as much as you can about it. That’s easily achievable by taking a look through the paytable. It’s full of important information such as how the bonus game works and how much winning combinations pay. Have some free games too just to see how everything works, particularly the bonus game.
Get Those Free Spins
To get into the bonus game your target is to get the Sunny ‘E’ symbol anywhere on the first and fifth reels. This triggers the free spins round and there are twenty presented to you to try and do some damage with. The good news continues because any wins you get will be doubled. It’s also possible to re-trigger the free spins if those scatters turn up again anywhere on the first and fifth reels. This can be a really lucrative bonus game.
In a packed game there’s also the gamble option. This arises after a win in regular play and again it’s a card game Gamble your win on the colour of the next card to double your prize. Get it wrong and you end up losing the win you’ve just celebrated. All a bit risky really and a good way of losing wins so be wary and don’t overdo this option, especially after a big win.
In Conclusion
What more do you want from a game? It looks great and the soundtrack won’t drive you round the bend. The bonus game can definitely lift your spirits especially if you’re able to re-trigger it allowing those wins to really start mounting.
