West Journey Treasure Hunt Slot Review

It’s actually one of the Four Great Classical Novals of Chinese literature, although in English-speaking nations, it is more commonly known under the title of Monkey. It tells the story of the legendary pilgrimage of the Tang dynasty Buddhist monk Xuanzang, who travelled to various regions west from China, such as India and Central Asia. Here, he obtained Buddhist sacred texts, returning to his homeland after many trials and suffering. In this game, you will get to take the journey with Xuanzang and experience the tribulations set upon him in the time of his life.

Prepare to Move West!

As you get ready to embark westwards with your compatriots, you’ll need to be wary of a few things, which are included on this layout of five reels and three rows. Here, you’ll find several different icons, starting with the often seen A, J, K, Q and 10 symbols. The remaining symbols all relate to the underlying theme, being in the form of your travelling buddies. The first of these is a vicious warrior, clutching on to his spear who goes by the name of Sandy. There’s also the addition of Pigsy, who is actually a pig-headed creature with human torso, while the third icon is that of Monkey, who seems ready to fire off his bow and arrow, if needed. Xuanzang provides the fourth icon, while the game’s own logo is its fifth.

The game has had a total of 40 different pay lines included in its layout, which accompany the reels, rows and icons very nicely. However, for those players who enjoy customising the amount of pay lines, you’ll find that this is very possible in West Journey Treasure Hunt. You’re also able to alter the amount of the wager that you place per spin, which can be done with the up and down arrows to the right hand side of the ‘Per Line’ box. This offers up a range of between $0.01 and $10 per line, which provides you with the possibility of placing a maximum overall wager of $400 per spin.

Be Wary on Your Expedition

You could be jumped upon by raiding hoards of soldiers at any given time, so you’ll need to be prepared for a fight as you go. Fortunately, the developer of this game has included some special features to help you in your battles, starting with its ‘Super Stacks’ addition. The reels contain stacks of symbols that transform into one of the standard icons, and the wild and scatter icon are also included in this. All stacked symbol positions on a reel transform in to one and the same.

There’s also the addition of a ‘Multiplier’ feature, and this is triggered whenever the game’s logo icon or one of the higher paying character symbols show up in all positions on three or more consecutive reels. This will then award a multiplier of between times two and times eight, ensuring higher pay outs are gained.

As noted, there’s a wild symbol included in the game, and as a wild, this will stand in for any other on the reels, except for the scatter. This provides extra opportunities to form wins, and if five of the wild icons show up on a winning pay line, a maximum pay out of 2,500 coins can be awarded to you.

Finally, the scatter icon is a Chinese piece of art, and this can only show up on reels two, three and four. If it comes into view in all positions on these reels, the freespins round will be initiated. This provides you with eight freespins of the reels, and the wild, multiplier and super stacks features are all active during this round as well.

From East to West and Back Again

This game is actually quite an intriguing addition to the High 5 Games catalogue. It tells a story that not many people are aware of, and it ensures entertaining game play from start to finish.
