Wild Ways Slot Review

It has many claims to fame, including being one of the very first releases in the highly successful Reel Power range – although we’ll cover that in more detail in the Gameplay section below. Needless to say, it’s up there with the likes of Choy Sun Doa as one of the most popular games in that particular range, something which makes it even more surprising that it has never been converted for online play. If you do play online exclusively, then we’ve still got you covered thanks to our full and dedicated page for Wild Ways alternatives and we’ll cover that in full at the end of the feature. Before that, let’s see exactly why this slot has such a legendary status.

Wild Ways Theme

Many of Aristocrat’s popular games carry something of a loose theme, whereby they’ll pick an overall direction for the graphics to go in and then combine it with some of their own most notable symbols. In this case, the game will be very familiar as they have combined a wildlife and animal theme with their almost ever-present playing card icons. The symbols themselves are fairly attractive and include alligators, lions and other exotic creatures and the while nothing too special, they are just as good as always.

Gameplay and Prizes

You may well have encountered the Reel Power range of slots before and that, as always, means only one thing. Rather than betting on specific win lines across the conventional five reel layout, you’re actually paying five coins to activate a reel. Doing so brings pretty much every winning direction into play, as any adjacent symbol will win a prize. Of note, you can pay fifteen coins to only play on three reels, or twenty coins for four. However, doing so carries the massive and obvious drawback of limiting your wins to three or four in view respectively. We’d never recommend covering anything less than all five reels, so be prepared to spend 25 coins on each spin. Those coins can be worth as little as a cent or as much as $4, so there’s plenty of flexibility for players regardless of their bankrolls or winning aims.

Features and Bonuses

Being a part of the Reel Power range is almost a feature in itself, but that’s not all that Wild Ways has in its bag of tricks. The ‘Ways’ part of the name refers to the betting options, so there’s no better place to start on the features than with ‘Wild’. The lion is that wild card and does the same job as on pretty much every Aristocrat slot, filling in the gaps and bringing many more of those 243 ways to win into play. The game also features the gamble option, where you can stake any prize on a game of chance in an effort to double it. You don’t have to give up after a single correct choice either, and can keep on gambling until the prize either matches your requirements or your luck runs out. The final bonus feature on Wild Ways comes from the sunset symbol. Three of these icons anywhere on the reels will launch the free spins round and while there’s nothing special about the spins, it’s definitely hard to beat free games with so many winning combinations in play.

While Choy Sun Doa and Pompeii, two other entries in Aristocrat’s Reel Power range, have managed to make their way to online casinos, fans of Wild Ways unfortunately aren’t quite so lucky. Whether you enjoy the theme, the gameplay or both at once, our Wild Ways alternatives represent the best online slots for fans.
