While testing the game, we could clearly see that the volatility was high and despite a 95.19% RTP, scoring a big win early in the game might prove challenging. Fortunately, Dragon Emperor is also rich in bonus features to assist you on your journey towards the jackpot, and we are here to explain to you how to use them all in our full review of the game.

Fight for the Throne

Dragon Emperor has rather majestic surroundings, with tall mountains covered in snow standing tall in the distance while the reels are framed with golden and red ornaments in the foreground. The graphics are overall a little old school, you can clearly see individual pixels if you look a little closely, but that does not really take anything away from the overall experience.

While being a little old school, Dragon Emperor has a lot to offer in terms of gameplay and cash prizes, which is what we will focus on in our next section.

Choose Your Next Move Carefully

Dragon Emperor is based on 5 reels and an open gameplay with 243 ways to win at every turn. You can choose a wager from 0.30 to 750 credits with the command buttons under the reels and play either turn by turn or in autoplay mode.

Skip ahead to the highest wager possible with the max bet button, and do not forget that you can play a mini game after each win to try and double up your latest payout, at the risk of losing it altogether. Right from the start, Dragon Emperor brings players a lot of options to choose from, and you should definitely take advantage of all of them as you play.

Dragon Emperor has a relatively high volatility, which can make it challenging at times to score prices. When sticking to the normal gameplay, it took us time before you hit a satisfying reward, which could put off some beginner players. The basic reel symbols are card icons and amulets, crystal balls, necklaces and a portrait of a long-haired Chinese master, worth a maximum of x1000 on the reels.

Play for Free or Flip the Table

If you keep the reels spinning long enough, you will notice the Chinese character for dragon popping up on your screen. Finding 3 of them lined up from left to right triggers the Dragon Emperor free spin round, with 7 to 15 free games at stake.

The dragon symbol itself is the wild card of the game. It can replace all of the other icons, except for the scatter, and finding 3 wilds on reel 5 initiates the exclusive reel shuffle bonus round. All reels will move around and rearrange themselves to boost your chances of scoring a big win. Note that you can still win free spins while playing in reel shuffle mode.

Perfect Choice for High Rollers and Big Spenders

Dragon Emperor is a great option for players who like open gameplays and Chinese folklore. You get to enjoy both here, but remember that high variance often means that you will need to work extra hard to land that big win you were aiming for. Fortunately, Dragon Emperor compensates for that fact with 2 useful bonus features, which are relatively easy to trigger if you are willing to play big and stick around for a little while.

Staying on the Chinese theme, you should probably check out 88 Fortunes from Bally; this other slot game has a similar open gameplay and a lower variance, making it a little easier to score wins on the reels more frequently.
