Get ready for the ride of your life in the Roller Coaster slot machine from Novomatic. You don’t have to be a white-knuckle fan to get a thrill out of this slot machine, because you can watch the crazy action unfold on your reels with an exciting bonus feature, wilds, scatters and free spins – plus that potential non-progressive jackpot of 5,000 will have you screaming with excitement.
Buckle Up
As you can probably guess, the theme of this slot machine is based around a theme park full of thrilling rides. The game itself is made to look like you are playing a real slot machine, with its 3D buttons and gaming screen.
The reels take up the vast majority of the console, with the Roller Coaster logo to the top with a roller coaster track running through it. There are various coloured blocks either side of the reels to highlight your paylines and the lower control panel allows you to view your current bets and to control your reels.
Hit that info button on the control panel and you will be shown a new screen full of the various symbols and features. Symbols that make up this slot machine are; bumper cars, clowns, carousels, carriage horses, rollercoasters, Ferris wheels, sky high ride plus ice-creams, lollipops, popcorn, fizzy drinks and pigs – you know the type that you would find from the cuddly toy stall.
Jump in and Go
The buttons on the control panel allow you to choose your paylines and the amount you wish to bet per spin. You will find the following buttons on the control panel; coin value, info (paytable), automatic start, play 1 lines, play 3 lines, play 5 lines, play 7 lines, play 9 lines and three buttons that offer; gamble and bet one, gamble and bet max and your start and take win button.
The gamble bet one button features red and the gamble bet max features black – these are the gamble buttons that will come into play when you enter the gamble feature.
The Ferris wheel will certainly have you reaching for the sky if you manage to trigger 5 of a kind, because this is what awards the non-progressive jackpot of 5,000. The highest paying symbols are the theme park rides, so these are the ones you will want to be riding.
Scarily Good Features
Gamble with any win that you trigger on your reels. You can double your original win by guessing the correct colour of the playing card that’s placed face down. You may want to mute the sounds for this feature because it sounds like a disc has stuck with it’s annoying shuffle sound.
You can view your current win to the top left, the amount you could win to the top right along with the last 6 cards drawn. You don’t have to commit to gambling once you’ve pressed that gamble button, because if you’ve decided to keep your line win, you can click the start button and the cash will automatically be added to your balance.
Bonus game – when you spin in the rollercoaster on reel 1 or 5 and a Ferris wheel on reel 3 in the middle position, you will trigger the free games Ferris wheel feature. The Ferris wheel will feature all of the symbols form the game and you will have at least two free spins of the wheel to try and win some free cash. The symbols will move around the wheel and will stop to form winning combinations. If you can spin in a rollercoaster again whilst in this feature, you will be given an additional free spin.
The rollercoaster symbol is your wild and will substitute all other symbols (bar the scatter) to help form winning lines.
Scatter wins are added to your balance when three or more of the clown scatter symbols appear on your paylines.
More Ups and Downs
First of all, we were impressed by the winning potential that the Roller Coaster slot machine offered, because it not only pays from left to right – but it also pays right to left. The theme of the game is brilliant, especially for a retro-style arcade machine.
It may take a few goes to get used to the various betting buttons, but once you’ve got the hang of it, it becomes really easy. There’s plenty of winning combinations that can fall onto your reels, but the majority of the wins will come from the bonus game – unless you spin in the jackpot of course.
