Dancing Dragon

Going from land to “cloud”, there is no denying that Novomatic has battled hard to keep the pace. The problem is that in the eyes of many players, titles from this particular software developer just aren’t able to match the efforts of its rivals. That being said, don’t write off this industry mainstay just yet, as it looks like Novomatic are keen to show that they still have plenty to offer gamblers with the release of Dancing Dragon.

50 paylines, 5 reels, and an impressive amount of action, in our eyes Dancing Dragon proved to be a real money slots release that was full of surprises!

Ushering in Chinese New Year

With a name like Dancing Dragon, the inspiration for this game is pretty obvious, as it based upon the charm and splendour of Chinese New Year. Embodying the celebration through and through, Dancing Dragon is bright, booming, and boisterous. The key colours of this game are red and gold, two tones that signify good luck on Asian shores. Dancing Dragon could have been yet another cliché far east inspired online slots title, but thankfully with its theme it looks like it has been able to sidestep this pitfall.

The symbols of Dancing Dragon also have plenty of style and substance to them, which gives the title an edge over similarly themed games. Lanterns and dragon masks are the most eye grabbing icons, but even the lower value symbols in this game look the part, with 9, 10, J, Q, K, and A all being customised with a far eastern flavour.

Dancing Through the Streets

The theme of Dancing Dragon certainly lures you in with its charm, but it’s the gameplay that hammers home just how enjoyable this title actually is. Through 5 reels and a whopping 50 paylines, the game absolutely loads up on action.

In terms of volatility, Dancing Dragon features within the medium to high variance bracket, so while the payouts are generous, you’re also assured a bit of a challenge too.

Sweet and Sour Slots Action

Another part of Dancing Dragon that ensures that the game delivers edge of the seat excitement is its bonus features. The main event is the free spins feature, which has actually become somewhat of a Novomatic trademark. When you secure the scatter symbol three or more times in Dancing Dragon, you’ll find that a minimum of 10 free spins will be on the way to your in-game account.

This bonus round actually has a little more spice to it than most, as it throws not just a wild or two into the mix, it can actually incorporate up to 75. We’ve certainly seen our fair share of bonus games in the past, but none before have ever included that many additional wilds.

We have always favoured real money slot games that carry dedicated mini-game bonus rounds, but Dancing Dragon has shown us that a game without one can be just as thrilling.

Jumping into the Party

Dancing Dragon is Novomatic powered, so you really aren’t going to be surprised by the control interface. While we could have possibly asked for something a little more appropriate for the theme of the game, you can’t really find too many issues with how it works to control the action. Through the small “-“ and “+’’ buttons you can increase and decrease your wager, before hitting spin and getting the Dancing Dragon action underway.

Simple, effective, and largely to the point, the control panel in Dancing Dragon allows all players to jump directly into the action.

Celebrate in Style with Dancing Dragon!

When any developer to tries to create a game based upon Chinese culture, it does tend to represent a risky move. This is because the subject matter is so easy to misinterpret and misrepresent. Thankfully, the case of Dancing Dragon is somewhat different from the norm, as it is nothing short of visual spectacle.

Novomatic hasn’t always had the best reputation when it comes to game design, but that could all be about to change, as Dancing Dragon looks impressively polished. Adding to that, it has notable gameplay elements that pretty much guarantee some degree of replay value. Overall, Dancing Dragon is a game that Novomatic can take a great amount of pride in, as it’s certainly one of the brand’s better recent releases.
