Munchkins Slot Review

Some slot games really do have strange themes. We’ve reviewed games such as ‘Wasabi-San’ that was about a sauce used on sushi and there’s been countless animals that seem to have very strange hobbies. This time around Microgaming have produced a slot about items that have had something bitten out of them by munchkins, all very strange indeed.

Time for a Munch

Thankfully this game doesn’t feature those Munchkins seen in ‘The Wizard of Oz’ who gave me a few nightmares as a child and nearly put me off lollipops. The theme may be a bit out of the box but at least it’s still an entertaining and potentially profitable game as we’re used to getting from Microgaming.

There’s five reels and three rows of symbols here with a total of 15 pay-lines. It’s up to you to decide just how many of those pay-lines to activate, just work out what you can afford and go for it. If playing all 15 of them at minimum coin stake it’ll cost you €0.15, the most you can bet on one spin of the reels is €150, only go for that if you can afford to lose that.

The symbols in this strange little game are a bit weird really. There’s a school book, a set of car keys and a wallet, all of which have had something bitten out of them by these funny little munchkins. It seems they like playing cards too as the ten to Ace also have a chunk taken out of them.

So That’s What They Look Like

The wild symbol is a blue shape but just keep an eye on it. This has the ability not just to substitute for most of the other symbols but when doing so it turns into a munchkin. What do they look like? Well they turn out to be a little blue monster that seems to be a bit of a punk if their hairstyle is anything to go by, this really is a very strange game. You’ll forget their hairstyles and dietary requirements if five appear on an activated pay-line as that pays 15,000x your coin stake.

The wild symbol isn’t able to substitute for all of the symbols as it can’t do that to the chocolate biscuit. That’s the scatter symbol here, why I have no idea but as you’ll read this plays a key role in activating the bonus game.

Make sure you look through the paytable and have some free games before playing this for real. It’s important to learn as much as you can about the game even if it’s nigh impossible on working out how they came up with the theme.

The game can be played in either regular or expert mode. You can determine in which mode you play just by using the button below the reels. There’s little difference between the two modes, the main one being the ability to set an autoplay feature. This can be either 5 or ten automated spins or set your own.

It’s always good to receive some free spins and that’s just what is on offer here. Three or more of those biscuit scatter symbols sees you awarded a grand total of 20 free spins to try and do some damage with. Look out for those biscuits because if they appear again as a trio during the free spins then that re-triggers them. You see biscuits can be good for you or at least your account balance.

There is also a gamble feature in this game. As usual it’s the guess the next card routine. You should know the drill by now, guess the colour of the next card to double a win You’re allowed five correct guesses but just one slip up loses you your win. Not the easiest of tasks and it’s only advisable to do this with small wins.

In Conclusion

A strange little game with a bizarre theme. The graphics are ok though and there are some good wins to be had here in the free spins game. Be wary about the gamble feature and get rid of the soundtrack as soon as possible, it drove me round the bend almost instantly.
