Nobody really likes germs, right? They’re forever causing issues around the world, but fortunately, with this product introduced by Microgaming, you’ll be able to try and zap as many of them as possible. It’s not the general sort of slot game, as you’ll be able to see from the layout as soon as you load it up. One of our favourite parts about this game is the fact that the germs themselves seem to have caught germs, as every so often, you’ll hear quaint coughs and sneezes emanating from your speakers. The general game play is also different to the norm, but we’ll get to that a little bit later. Graphically speaking, the game is put together in a very pleasant way, providing you with an entertaining product to view on the whole. There isn’t really any kind of soundtrack involved in the game, and instead, you just have the aforementioned coughs and sneezes, as well as a cheerful little ditty at the end of each round of pay outs.

Be Careful of Catching Germs!

Whereas normally, you’ll find online video slots featuring a fairly regular layout of five reels and three rows, but Germinator incorporates a very different interface. This is designed in a six reel and six row layout, and it’s upon this that you’ll find the multitude of different icons, all of which are supposed to be in the form of microscopic germs. Each of these have quirky and zany facial features, and have been created in several different shapes and colours. There’s the yellow one, the lime green germ, the orange blob, the red star-like icon and the blue one with fangs. When playing the game, you’ll also see that you only need to match three or more of these icons in any location together in order to win. Therefore, you don’t need to go from left to right or right to left, and you can also form combinations in a vertical way as well.

Because of this kind of game play, you’ll find that Microgaming have included 12 different pay lines, which are spread out across the six rows and the six reels, so provided the matching combination is located in a horizontal or vertical way, you’ll be forming a win of three or more symbols. These pay lines cannot be adjusted in any way, but players do have the chance to alter the amount of the bet they place per line, which offers up a range of between one and 50 coins. Therefore, you’ll be able to place a maximum overall wager of 600 coins per spin.

Viral Germs for Special Features

While this game is different in appearance to other video slots, this doesn’t mean that it lacks in the special features department. Quite the opposite actually. Whenever you form a winning combination on the reels, the included icons will explode and disappear, leaving gaps for new symbols to fall in to their place. Further wins can be formed in this instance, and if this does occur, these will also explode and disappear to start the chain again. This continues until no further wins are formed, and all pay outs are added to your balance at the end of this sequence.

There’s also something added to the game, entitled ‘Medi-Bonus!’, and this is triggered when you see three or more symbols on the reels at the end of a round which feature a capsule icon overlaid on them. This allows you to select one germ in the medi-bonus round, and this will remove all germs of that strain from the grid. These germs which are removed do not offer a pay out, however, it does set the winning sequence in motion again, so you do have the chance to re-activate the medi-bonus again. Such a feature allows players to significantly boost their win balance.

We have to admit that on first viewing this game, it does look quite busy with all the different germ icons involved on the reels.
