- Subpar sounds and visuals
Game Overview
Released in January, 2012 by International Game Technology (IGT), Da Vinci Diamonds has quickly shot up the ranks and become one of IGT’s flagship classics. Currently, the game has five reels and four rows, with many of the different symbols and visuals being a homage to Leonardo da Vinci’s accomplishments. (1)
Da Vinci Diamonds is the first IGT game to make an appearance on multiple platforms, from land-based to social, and in the future, on mobile devices as well.
The game has 20 different paylines that you can hit in order to get paid out. The paylines themselves are fixed. However, you can adjust the amount bet per line so that you aren’t betting the same amount per spin.
The betting range for each payline varies between 1 credit and 500 credits. Since the paylines are fixed for this game, you can bet a minimum of 20 credits per spin and a maximum of 10,000 credits per spin. This allows you to play small when you feel the need to conserve credits and bet more when you want to win big.
Da Vinci Diamonds has a return-to-player percentage (RTP) of 94.93% which is pretty solid. This means that, over a large number of spins, if you bet $100, you’re expected to get around $94.93 back.
While most slot machines might have an RTP around 96%, an RTP of 94.93% and an RTP of 96% are nearly the same. Furthermore, an RTP is hard to determine in the short run since anything can happen. (2)
Despite the set-theoretical RTP, almost any outcome is possible in the short term.

How to Win at Da Vinci Diamonds
In order to win at Da Vinci Diamonds, you’ll need to hit at least one of the 20 paylines available in this game. However, thanks to a feature called tumbling reels, you have the chance to win multiple paylines per spin.
Tumbling Reels
Da Vinci Diamonds’ tumbling reels is by far the most unique feature of the slot machine. Normally, once you hit a winning payline, you start over and spin again. However, with tumbling reels, once you hit a winning payline, you’re given an opportunity to hit another payline.
How this works is that once the payline is hit, rather than resetting, the icons that form the payline disappear and the icons above “tumble” down to replace them. This allows for potential new paylines to be hit which would then trigger another “tumble”.
These tumbles continue to compound until there are no more winning paylines. From there, you restart the cycle by spinning again.
With this feature, Da Vinci Diamonds can reward its players larger payouts on a single spin. This keeps things exciting since you never know how many paylines you’re going to hit and your payout isn’t limited to a paytable.
Symbols and Values
Currently, there are six symbols that show up regularly within the game. Half of the symbols are some of Leonardo da Vinci’s most revered work while the other half are gemstones. The three gemstones pay out the least. However, the only combination that pays under the break even point is if you match three gemstones. After that, combinations can either break even or make profit.
We go more into detail on how each symbol pays out but if you’d like a shortened summary, check out our paytable below!

Da Vinci Diamonds features three of Leonardo’s most notable paintings as symbols: Lady with Ermine, Portrait of a Musician, and the Mona Lisa. While the game doesn’t feature paintings like the Last Supper or Vitruvian man, all of three of these paintings are very famous, the most noteworthy of the three being the Mona Lisa. (3)
The world’s most famous artwork, the Mona Lisa draws thousands of visitors to the Louvre Museum each day, many of whom are compelled by the sitter’s mysterious gaze and enigmatic smile.

Bonus and Features
Da Vinci Diamonds has a bonus round that you can unlock by hitting three or more scatter symbols. In the game, this is the Pink Bonus icon that appears alongside the regular symbols. Once you hit three Pink Bonus icons in reels one to three, a new slot with a red background appears. This is the bonus game.
You start the bonus game out with six free spins. However, if you hit another bonus symbol combination, you can be rewarded anywhere between 2-15 free spins. This can compound until you hit a maximum of 300 free spins.
The more bonus symbols you hit during the bonus game, the more free spins you’re awarded!
Now, you might think that it’ll be hard to reach that amount, let alone hit another bonus symbol payline that pays you free spins. However, thanks to Da Vinci Diamonds’ tumbling reels feature, it’s actually much more realistic than you think.
The bonus symbols are also different except for the Da Vinci Diamond symbol. There are three gemstones, one pearl, and three Leonardo Da Vinci paintings. The lowest value of these paintings, the La Belle Ferronnière pays out 20X your bet while the highest value of these paintings, The Madonna of the Yarnwinder pays out 30X your bet.
As for the gemstones, their payouts vary. If you hit three symbols:
- The pearl will pay out half the set bet
- The teardrop gem will pay out half the set bet
- The yellow gem will pay out half the set bet
- The sapphire will pay out the break even amount
If you hit four symbols:
- The pearl will pay out 2.5X the set bet
- The teardrop gem will pay out 2X the set bet
- The yellow gem will pay out the break even amount
- The sapphire will pay 1.5X the set bet
If you hit five symbols:
- The pearl will pay out 10X the set bet
- The teardrop gem will pay out 7.5X the set bet
- The yellow gem will pay 4X the set bet
- The sapphire will pay out 5X the set bet
The star of the bonus game is the Da Vinci Diamond icon. Hitting three of these will already pay out 10X your bet. However, hitting five Da Vinci Diamond icons across the reels will result in a mind-boggling payout of 2500X what the wager is set at. And with tumbling reels set in place for this slot machine, you’ll get plenty of shots to hit those diamonds.
Aside from the bonus symbols and the regular in-game symbols, there is also a wild symbol available within the Da Vinci Diamonds slot machine. The wild symbol is a pink gemstone with the word “Wild” planted across the middle of the icon.
This symbol will substitute for the Da Vinci Diamond, any of the three paintings, or any of the three gemstones within the regular game. Unfortunately, the wild symbol is not in the bonus game but the hefty payouts should make up for that.
Jackpot
Da Vinci Diamonds is not a progressive jackpot, meaning that the jackpot is set and doesn’t increase the more you play. However, the Da Vinci Diamonds jackpot itself is quite large with a possible payout of up to 2,500,000 credits!
This puts it on the same level as most progressive jackpots since progressive slots can stack up millions in credits before a player hits the jackpot and cashes out.
Perfect for High Rollers
If you’re a high-stakes slot player, you’ll love Da Vinci Diamonds since it lets you bet within such a large range. Players who like to play high limit slots can bet upwards up to a maximum 10,000 credits per spin. While this is a hefty amount, Da Vinci Diamonds does provide return on most of their paylines.
As we’ve mentioned before, the only paylines which will make under the break even point are if you match three gemstones during the regular game. Other than that, you’re guaranteed to either break even or make a profit. And with the tumbling reels feature, chances are, hitting a winning payline will pay out more than just that payline.
Thanks to the wide range of betting opportunities for Da Vinci Diamonds, you can choose to play high-stakes for a few rounds and then lower your betting amount to play more rounds later.
Play Da Vinci Diamonds on Mobile
Because of how popular the Da Vinci Diamonds slot machine is, you can also expect to find this IGT-powered video slot on all mobile operating systems. This means that you can enjoy this fast-paced game anywhere, whether it’s from the comfort of your own home or in a random restaurant outside of your city.
You’ll want to keep in mind that the online casino you play Da Vinci Diamonds at can be important when you’re playing on a mobile device. Some online casinos offer apps while others configure their website for Safari and Chrome.
Furthermore, if there is an app, Android users will need to download the app directly from the casino. This is due to the fact that Google Play doesn’t allow most online casinos to have an app on their store since they have real money games. (4) However, you’ll find the occasional exception here and there.
We don't allow content or services that facilitate online gambling, including, but not limited to, online casinos, sports betting and lotteries, and games of skill that offer prizes of cash or other real world value.
Da Vinci Diamonds Dual Play
If you’re looking for other options besides Da Vinci Diamonds, you can definitely check out Da Vinci Diamonds Dual Play. Da Vinci Diamonds Dual Play is another slot game designed by IGT, spun off from the original Da Vinci Diamonds slot machine.
This game features 40 different fixed paylines along with two sets of tumbling reels.
The line bet value in Da Vinci Diamonds Dual Play still ranges from 1 to 500. However, with 40 paylines, this means that the minimum bet is 40 credits and the maximum bet is 20,000 credits. Furthermore, matching three scatter symbols in the first three reels unlocks the bonus game which gives you six free spins and 60 different paylines for you to hit.
In addition to the tumbling reels feature, Da Vinci Diamonds Dual Play also has a special Tumble Thru feature. This feature allows icons from the top of the first set of reels to fall to the bottom of the second set of reels. With this feature, no icon goes to waste and your odds of hitting winning paylines are much higher.
Da Vinci Diamonds Dual Play also accommodates for a wide range of players since the betting range is so wide. You can play conservatively and bet 40 credits per spin or you can play high-stakes and go as high as 20,000 credits per spin.
Double Da Vinci Diamonds
Another great option is Double Da Vinci Diamonds. The game features 40 paylines along 5 reels and has many of the same features that the original Da Vinci Diamonds game has.
Double Da Vinci Diamonds features double symbols which help boost payouts since there are more opportunities to hit the same payline.
Essentially, double symbols work such that the symbol that is doubled counts as two symbols when determining paylines.
Therefore, if you get a double Mona Lisa symbol, you would only need one other Mona Lisa symbol adjacent to it in order to hit a payline. In Double Da Vinci Diamonds, only the portraits can show up as double symbols and the image will portray two of the same portrait to let you know that it is a double symbol.
Double Da Vinci Diamonds was released in 2015 by High 5 Games. However, it takes many of the concepts from the original Da Vinci Diamonds game made by IGT.
Double Da Vinci Diamonds also has free spins that can be unlocked when you hit three or more scatter symbols across the reels. You’ll then be provided between six and sixteen free spins which you can use for your own enjoyment.
Like the original Da Vinci Diamonds, Double Da Vinci Diamonds is great for both low-stakes players and high-stakes players. You can play with a minimum bet of 1 credit per line and go up to as high as 500 credits per line. This results in an overall minimum bet of 40 credits per spin and a maximum bet of 20,000 credits per spin.

Dungeons and Dragons

Gonzo’s Quest

Gonzalo will always be by your side in Gonzo’s Quest, watching attentively as you make each spin. However, what makes Gonzo’s Quest unique is their incorporation of both the avalanche and free falls feature.
Overall Rating
We’ve based our overall rating of Da Vinci Diamonds on several things: user experience, game features, payouts, and sounds and visuals. By looking at these different aspects of the game, we were able to compile a rating for the game that can help you determine if you want to put your money on Da Vinci Diamonds!
User Experience: 3.5/5
Our experience with the game was fairly smooth. We didn’t have any trouble finding where the controls were, the betting amounts, and there wasn’t any lag on our end when we played the game. Overall, everything was easy to find and there were no major interruptions during our gameplay.
Game Features: 4/5
The game features of Da Vinci Diamonds were where the slot exceled. The Da Vinci Diamonds’ bonus game gave us the opportunity to reach up to 300 free spins on a boosted multiplier which left us with pretty big payouts.
On top of this, the tumbling reels feature kept the regular game exciting since we always had the chance to get another win after hitting a winning payline.
Payouts: 3.5/5
The payouts are relatively solid in this game. When you do win, you have the opportunity to win big thanks to the game’s tumbling reels. However, it can take a while to hit a winning payline that pays out a substantial amount.
That doesn’t mean that you’ll lose a lot of money beforehand, though. There were several times where we were breaking even on our spins before we hit something big. Da Vinci Diamonds does pay out well, but it can take time.
Sounds & Visuals: 3/5
The sounds and visuals of Da Vinci Diamonds are mediocre. They’re not terrible, but they’re not great. They get the job done. The best part of the visuals is the incorporation of Leonardo’s paintings which helps the game stand out.
However, there’s no background music and the sound effects are minimal. You’ll also find that there’s no real background which is a missed opportunity since this could be another way to bring Leonardo Da Vinci’s art into the game.
Final Rating: 3.5/5
Da Vinci Diamonds provides plenty of opportunities for you to win. The gameplay is exciting and keeps you on your toes since payouts can be pretty big thanks to the tumbling reels feature.
While the user experience is overall pretty smooth, Da Vinci Diamonds does lack in the sounds and visuals department. There’s no background music that helps keep you engaged and the background itself is just a black screen with nothing else to add to it.
Nevertheless, Da Vinci Diamonds still remains as an IGT flagship classic. Plenty of slot enthusiasts play this game everyday and this game might be the key to your next big jackpot.
