A 5×3 setup with 20 paylines might be all you need to have fun, and if you are not afraid of high volatility then So Hot is definitely worth a try. Add the perspective of a very generous free spin bonus on top and now you have basically no excuse not to read our full review of the game right away.
Retro yet Hot
As mentioned before, So Hot is a typical example of a retro slot game with a strong arcade style. The background is literally on fire, while the reels and bulky command bar underneath them take up most of the screen space.
The graphics and animations are very simple in So Hot, and the sound effects will trigger some serious nostalgia for casino goers. Overall, So Hot is not going to draw in large crowds because of its graphics but rather thanks to its gameplay, as we will see next.
Choose a Wager and Get the Reels Spinning
Playing So Hot is as simple as clicking the arrow buttons located under the reels. Choose a wager from 0.20 to 200 credits per turn and spin the reels either manually or in autospin mode. The 20 paylines of the game are fixed so you will not have to worry about them as you gamble.
The game’s rather high volatility makes it a little tougher than usual to score wins on the reels, and even the most modest rewards will require some work on your part. Not that this would discourage hard-core players, but this is always worth mentioning just in case that you were looking for a more dynamic slot game. The paytable is as classic as the rest, with card icons, fruits, bells and other classic casino icons and a maximum reward of x1000 waiting.
Generous Free Spin Bonus Ahead
So Hot is noticeably more generous than classic casino slots when it comes to bonus features. First of all, you get to play with two different wilds: a blue and a red 7. Wilds can replace the basic icons to help you out on the reels and also create their own combinations, which can be worth up to x5000. If you play all-in, a combination of 5 red 7s will unlock the So Hot jackpot of x50,000, which is by far the most interesting reward of the entire game.
The burning spade symbol is a scatter that can appear anywhere on the reels and award a cash prize even when not properly aligned. 2 or more spades in view also start triggering free spins, with a maximum bonus of 60 free games available. For as long as you are in free spin mode, all standard rewards will be worth twice as much as usual.
A Good, Old-Fashioned Slot Game Challenge
So Hot is a classic slot game on steroids, with a surprisingly generous free spin bonus with doubled rewards, two wilds and a very interesting jackpot available. That being said, So Hot is also a challenging, high-variance slot that is best put in the hands of high rollers and experienced gamblers, or anyone willing to spend time and credits to get a chance to win a generous jackpot in a retro casino atmosphere.
Retro Reels Extreme Heat from Microgaming is quite similar to So Hot, both in name and in atmosphere. You will find a similar gameplay there, but with a lower volatility that makes it perhaps a little more accessible to beginners.
