While we’re sure a few of their fans will disagree, Bally is not necessarily one of the major slots developers that we’d necessarily associate with humour. Sumo Kitty does a great job of bucking the trend and the name alone should be more than enough to bring a smile to the face. As is commonplace on Bally games, the symbols that you’re most likely to see regularly are the playing card icons. Nearer the top of the pay table are the themed icons, including lotuses, koi and a tree for a generally Oriental flavour. There’s also a standard wild card which does the usual job, although the way it comes into play is slightly out of the ordinary. In addition to the reels spinning as normal, the Hot Zone will spin over the reels too and it can land in one of a variety of different patterns – or potentially not at all. When a Hot Zone does land, all symbols that have landed within the Zone will instantly be turned into wild cards. With four rows of symbols and a full 1,024 ways to win, the zone can make for some particularly impressive prizes.

Bonus action is controlled by the Sumo icon and you’ll need to land one on reels one, three and five in order to trigger the bonus round, with the added prize of two times your stake thrown in on top. Prior to the spins themselves, players are invited to take their pick of three different features. First up are twenty free games, with all wild wins receiving a two, three or five times multiplier. You can opt instead for ten games with a multiplier of between five and ten times, or just five games with multipliers boosted up to between ten and twenty times the original prize value. Three or more Sumo icons during the bonus game will trigger five additional free spins, with no limit on the total that are available.
