Fruit Shop is one of Netent’s earlier slot game releases. It actually gives the impression of a stall set out to provide paying customers with various different juicy fruits, and as the Christmas season approached in 2015, the developer decided to introduce the gaming world to a seasonal version of it. This wouldn’t see a dramatic change in the icons or the reel interface, but instead, brought a more wintry vision to the product, seeing its symbols either coated in snow, or, in the case of the fruits, encased in ice. The surrounding scene has also been given a winter update, with snowmen, snow-covered Christmas trees and various different gifts spread out around it. There isn’t really a soundtrack to be spoke of in this game, although there is a Christmassy jingle which plays every time you spin the reels. The graphics aren’t especially different to the original version of this game, although that’s not to say they’re bad. They’re visually appealing, and of course, thematically relevant.
Christmas Fruit Upon the Reels
The interface of this game is presented to players with five reels and three rows. This offers up a familiar layout, and one that doesn’t differ from the original product. Upon the reels, as mentioned, you’ll find various different fruits, all of which have been encased in blocks of ice. So, as such, you’ll find cherries, plums, watermelons, oranges and lemons all showing up on the reels. Accompanying them, you’ll find the standard video slot icons in the form of A, J, K, Q and 10. As previously described, these are all very nicely designed and provide the relevant thematic imagery.
Alongside the standard reels and rows, Netent have also included a total of 15 separate pay lines. These are fixed in place, so customisation of such is not possible. However, players are able to change around the coin value and the bet level in order to customise the wager they place per spin. The former of these can be altered between its minimum level of $0.01 and its maximum of $1 per pay line, while the bet level is able to be changed between one and 10. This gives players the chance to place a maximum overall wager of $150 per round. A ‘Bet Max’ button can be utilised in order to increase the wager level to this amount instantly, and there is also an ‘Auto Play’ button to allow up to 1000 consecutive spins of the reels at the same wager level.
There’s Something Festively Special About This Game
The original Fruit Shop game featured a couple of nice special extras, and this Christmas edition doesn’t stray too far away from that path either. This begins with the game’s wild icon, which is represented by its logo. Should this make an appearance on the reels, it will substitute for any other symbol in order to craft a winning combination, and any bet line wines featuring the wild will pay out a multiplier of times two.
Not only that, but there is also an inclusive freespins round, although this isn’t triggered by the usual way – that being with three or more scatters appearing. There aren’t any scatters included in this product, and therefore freespins need to be triggered in a different way. Should you match up any of the fruit symbols to form a win, these will trigger various different amounts of freespins. The cherries will present freespins if any two are matched on the reels, while the remainder of the fruits will only provide freespins when three or more are matched on a pay line. A maximum of five freespins can be earned from five matching fruit symbols, and during the freespins round, further icons of fruit being matched up will provide extra freespins. Wins during this round are also doubled.
Christmassy Wonders
The Christmas Edition of Fruit Shop doesn’t differ immensely from the original version, and instead provides a seasonal variation of it. It’s an intriguing game to play, especially during the Christmas period, although if you’re ever in need of a little bit of festivity, try accessing this one during the summer months in order to garner yourself a bit of wintry fun.
