The chances are that at some point in your life you have played a game of Monopoly with friends or family. But while a full-on game can take hours to finish with Super Monopoly Money slots you can get your hands on some cold, hard cash in a matter of minutes. To be clear on Monopoly and their history of slots: IGT until recently had a game but lost the rights and Barcrest also have their own version. In this review we will continue with the WMS version.

Whether you are a fan of the original Monopoly board game or not, there is still plenty to be enjoyed here. Set amongst a stunning river backdrop, this game utilises fantastically vibrant graphics and colours; which is not something that can usually be attributed to a Williams slot game.

You’ll probably recognise most of the game symbols – the boat, dog, shoe, hat and car are all on the reels, as are others such as the taxi and money pot.

As ever, the base layer of the game is to find those matching symbols, with three or more ensuring a payout. Three of the moneybags pays 0.10 and this increases in rank through the symbols until you match five of the jackpot symbol, which pays 5.00 when created with a wild and 250.00 when they are spun clean.

Park for Free

There are bonus symbols to be spun as well of course, with the Wild substituting for all of the original symbols, while the Monopoly Money Wild (it looks similar to the original Wild, so do check the paytable to understand the difference) substitutes for all symbols except Free Parking.

You only need to spin one Free Parking symbol, which appear on reels 2-5, to trigger the Free Parking Bonus round (more on that later), and the Bonus symbol triggers the Free Spins round in these denominations:

• 3 Bonus symbols = 8 free spins
• 4 Bonus symbols = 10 free spins
• 5 Bonus symbols = 15 free spins

There are 25 fixed paylines to play for on each spin, with 27 unique ways in which to bet from as little as 0.01 coins.

Bonuses by the Bucketload

Super Monopoly Money is super by name, super by nature courtesy of its four separate bonus features.

Firstly there’s the Free Spins Bonus, which is triggered by spinning three or more of the Bonus or Monopoly Money Bonus symbols from left to right on adjacent reels (starting from reel 1). The amount of freebies you are awarded is as shown above, and the Wild symbol substitutes for all but the Bonus and Free Parking to help create those winning lines. More free spins can be triggered by spinning three or more bonuses, with winning combinations paid out at the same rate as in the main game. Note that the Monopoly Money Wild and Bonus symbols and the Jackpot symbol will not appear during the Free Spins round, nor can the Wheel Bonus be activated.

The Free Parking feature is a fun one that can produce decent little wins. When the Free Parking symbols appears once or more on your reels this will trigger a win, the Free Spin Bonus or possibly increase your existing wins. To find out which, pick one of the five Free Parking symbols to reveal a prize – these will consist of a Wild, a Monopoly Money Bonus and the three symbols which appeared on reel 1.

The third feature we will consider is Monopoly Money. When the Monopoly Money symbol appears on reel 5, it will expand to create a stacked wild for all symbols except Free Parking. Winning combinations are awarded a monetary value and Monopoly Money, and even if no winning combinations are created, this feature will pay out a random amount between 10 and 100 times the bet per line.

A Monopoly Money House/Hotel may be awarded in Monopoly Money, and the chance of winning one of these increases with the amount you wager. These prizes are awarded from an individual range outlined in the paytable.

Finally the Wheel Bonus, in which you will be asked to click on Mr Monopoly to get the wheel spinning. You can win multipliers ranging from 1x to 100x your stake amount, or via a Go! Re-Spin from 1x to 200x. If the wheel lands on Chance then pick a card to reveal a value of 5x or 10x. If the wheel lands on Community Chest then pick one of the 12 cards to reveal an amount from 10x to 50x. Any awarded multiplier is added to your Monopoly Money credit.
