The Royals could literally be described as a family who have it all. Luxury buildings to live in. Staff to wait on them hand and foot. Money in excess. And some sort of fame that makes them known throughout the entire world. It seems quite fitting then, for there to be a game named The Royals. However, if you thought this product would feature imagery of kings and queens, princes and princesses, you’d be wrong. In actuality, the only real reference that it has to anything particularly royal is the castle which graces the background. Everything else is very much slot game related, rather than following any specific theme. It’s a bit of a let down when you think of all the special feature and symbols that could have been introduced to the reels of this product.
So, What Exactly Is Included in this Game?
The Royals provides players with a five reel and three row product, which is a very familiar and standard online video slot game interface. On the reels, you’ll be presented with icons of traditional slot game s. Therefore, you’ll find plums and cherries both making appearances. In addition, there’s the frequently seen A, J, K, Q and 10 icons. Finally, the other symbols which show up on the game is one of a bag full of gold coins, and the other of various different coloured 7s. These are all designed with greater graphics than those which appear on many of Novomatic’s other games, so you can be sure that it will provide at least a visually pleasing effect.
In addition to this, all players will be able to place wagers across 20 separate pay lines, although these are alterable, if you have a preference for betting on fewer. What’s more, you can also switch the bet you place per line around as well, with this starting from its minimum of $0.02 and raising up to its maximum of $5. Simply press the plus and minus buttons on either side of the amount to change this. With everything at its maximum level, players are able to play a maximum overall wager of $100 per spin. Furthermore, ‘Autoplay’ is also included to allow several consecutive spins of the reels at the same wager level.
Royal Specialities?
It would seem like a game with such quality graphics and an underlying theme – regardless of how vague it actually is – would also feature some intriguing special additions as well. This one does have its own wild icon, represented by what appears to be a Cabbage Patch Jester! This will substitute for all other icons on the reels in order to create a winning combination.
There’s also the possibility of triggering ‘The Royals Feature’ in this game as well, which is the only other nod to the theme that this product provides. At the end of a winning or losing game, the feature may randomly begin. Should it do so, a royal character will appear in one or more of the reel windows. The reels will spin and stop on prize-winning combinations, and this will continue until the reels stop on a losing combination.
Finally, there is also a gamble feature included in the product, although this goes a slightly different route to the standard one, presenting a ladder round instead of the regular card game. Should you opt to participate in this round, you’ll have the chance to double up your winnings from the activating round. To do this, you’re taken to another screen, which hosts a ladder of steps. The bottom one flashes to start with, and you simply need to press the ‘Gamble’ button to stop it doing so. If it halts and illuminates the step, your winnings are doubled and you move on to the next one. If it doesn’t light it up, you lose all your winnings from that round.
A Royal Game without Royalty
It’s a bit of a misleading title for this game to have, as it’s not really got a lot of anything royal included in it. However, as a game without a particular them to work to, this one offers up a pretty intriguing product.
