Lucky Twins presents players with a game which is based on Chinese culture, as it would happen. So, no, it’s not a product with creepy children in hallways as we originally thought it would be from the title. Instead, you’ll be treated to various different sorts of imagery relating to the Orient and the ability of having luck on your side. There isn’t really any specific setting for the game, and instead, you just get to play against a red backdrop. There’s also no specific soundtrack included either, which is a little bit of a shame considering the theme could be driven to a new high with such included. Graphics-wise, it’s quite a nice offering, although the edges of some of the imagery can tend to look a little distorted on the whole. Overall, the general appearance is fairly standard, but it doesn’t live up to the high quality offerings of some of Microgaming’s more recent releases in that respect. You’ll find that there are a couple of different special features included though, and these are what really give the game a bit more of an appeal on the whole.
A Look Into Chinese Culture
As far as the design of this game is concerned, it’s presented to its players on a five reel and three row interface, so this should provide you with a fairly familiar looking layout. Upon the reels, you’ll also find that there’s various different icons, some of which will also look quite familiar in the form of the A, J, K, Q and 10 symbols. These have all had a bit of Oriental pizazz added to them, such as the pendants hanging from the ‘J’ or the mini dragon on top of the ‘K’. These icons are joined by the image of a purple velvet bag filled with coins, a floating Chinese kite of some kind, what appears to be a bunch of fireworks, and finally, a cat made out of pottery. The Lucky Twins logo is the final addition of standard symbols to this game.
Microgaming have also added a total of nine different pay lines to the game, and the developer has made it possible for players to customise these in any way they see fit. In addition, you have the chance to change the amount of your wager around per spin as well. This has a range of between $0.01 and $5 per line, so if you decide to play with all lines active, you will be placing a maximum overall wager of $45 per round. An ‘Auto Play’ button has also been added to the game, which will enable you to spin the reels up to 100 consecutive times at the same wager level.
Oriental Specialities
This game does have a couple of special additions to it, as mentioned previously, and this all begins with its wild icon. This is the symbol of the two twins holding a tray of golden ornaments. As a wild symbol, this will act as a substitute for all other icons on the reels, with the only exception being the scatters. Of course, this allows you to form wins with the wild icon as part of the combination.
Not only that, but there’s the inclusion of a scatter icon as well, and this is the single golden ornament. Scatter wins are added to pay line wins, and these offer up a pay out wherever they appear on the reels. Scatters pay out your total wager placed times by a multiplier, with five of them appearing on the reels giving you the chance to receive a maximum pay out of 2,250 coins.
Nicely Designed but Flawed
Lucky Twins is a nicely designed game, and it has the basis of a great theme behind it as well. However, due to the fact that there’s just a wild and a scatter icon included as its specialities, it seems to lack a little sustenance. A freespins round or a bonus game would have ensured a much more rounded game on the whole, but it’s still a nice enough offering to be included in this developer’s portfolio.
