Suffice to say the slot doesn’t delve too deep into the famous backstory, though. All you need to be concerned about is finding matching combinations of three, four or five symbols to trigger pay-outs. That’s how slot games work, after all!
Feels Good to Be the King
In King Arthur, players are free to determine their coin size, which starts at 0.01 and rises to 5.00. As such, the maximum bet per spin of the reels is a cool 100 credits. The jackpot, meanwhile, is an enticing 10,000 coins. Imagine what you could do with a spare 10k in your back pocket? The return-to-player percentage, incidentally, is 95.07%.
The King’s Court
King Arthur takes place on a 5×3 reel grid, in the background of which is the King’s castle, the fair maiden Guinevere and the king himself, resplendent in his chainmail armour and purple cape. The game is quite pleasing to look at, and the title appears in Olde English style font at the top of the screen, appearing in front of the famously ornate Excalibur sword, which is studded along the handle with gemstones. The colours are vivid and bright and the symbols include many figures associated with the story of KA himself.
Below the reels, on a gold panel designed to resemble the control section of a real-life slot machine, are numerous buttons. There is a green button for Spin, a red button for Bet Max and blue buttons for Coins and Lines. Choose how many lines you wish to play, how many coins you wish to stake and determine your coin denominations. It’s all pretty self-explanatory. There’s also a View Pays button in the lower left-hand corner. It’s worth having a gander at this before you spin the reels, if only so you know what symbols to watch out for during gameplay.
Symbols in the game include the Holy Grail, the Lady in the Lake and five playing cards, from 10 to Ace. The playing cards are well designed, but in truth, we would have preferred five more symbols related to the theme rather than bog-standard playing cards that have nothing whatsoever to do with medieval history. Other icons include King Arthur himself, Merlin, a sword in a stone and the castle of Camelot.
Camelot Bonus Quest
To trigger this bonus, you’ll need to land three, four or five Camelot bonus symbols on an active payline. At this point you’ll be shown the castle in all its splendour, as well as several pathways and entrances which conceal a variety of multipliers. Thereafter, you will get the opportunity to direct Arthur left or right for the first of two choices, after which he will walk of his own accord. Fingers crossed it’s towards a 4x multiplier rather than a 1x multiplier or, worse still, an 0x multiplier!
Wilds and Scatters
During the base game, both Arthur and Merlin fulfil roles as wild symbols, able to replace others to help you form matching combos. However, if the main man Arthur is involved in a win, he doubles the prize awarded. There is no multiplier attached to combinations which Merlin helps form.
The scatter symbol is the sword in the stone. Three or more landing anywhere on the reels triggers an amusing feature which sees Arthur attempt to yank various swords from their stone blocks. If he manages these feat of incredible strength, you’ll win a multiplier. The multipliers are cumulative. If Arthur manages to pull all five swords from their stone foundations, you’ll win a 32x multiplier.

The legend of King Arthur has been the focus of numerous slot games over the years, and Ash Gaming’s version is none too shabby, truth be told. The design of the slot fairly creates a medieval mood and transports you to a land of swords, magic and mysticism.
We recommend playing the game in free mode so you can get a feel for it, before committing real cash. When you do, the potential is there to make some nice winnings, particularly given the multipliers up for grabs during the bonus game.
