Super Dice is another one of Novomatic’s decisions to try and merge the traditional slot machine with a dice game in an attempt to be as original as possible. The thing is, it doesn’t really work so much when you create several games in the same vein. After the first one, it’s no longer innovation, but simply a carbon copy of the original. However, as a stand alone game, it’s fairly decent. If you weren’t to know that there’d been other games created in this way, playing Super Dice would be entertaining enough. There’s nothing overly spectacular about the icons included, and the graphics and incorporated soundtrack are also fairly substandard. What generally makes these sort of products more appealing is if they’re able to present enough special features to players, in order to offer up a well-rounded game. We’ll see what’s on offer with this one a little bit later.
Will the Dice Roll in Your Favour?
The game itself is set up with a three reel and three row interface, providing a traditional slot machine interface to its players. Upon these reels, you’re offered the standard fruit-based icons. Therefore, you’ll get to spin through imagery of grapes (albeit blue grapes), lemons, oranges, watermelons, plums and cherries. In addition to these, the developer has also added stars, 7s and bells into the icon selection, providing more than enough to fill its reels. As mentioned, these aren’t designed in any stellar kind of way, instead tending to stick to the classic appeal of games gone by. The inclusive music is also very generic for this provider, although does stray as far into arcade land as most of their games.
Alongside its reels, rows and icons, this one has five separate pay lines included in its interface, and these are fixed as they are, so there’s no possibility of decreasing them beyond this point. However, all players do have the option of altering their wager amount around. This is done by using the plus and minus buttons in the ‘Bet’ box. The minimum amount for this starts off at $0.40, and will then increase up to a maximum of $100. This provides the maximum overall wager for the game, and Novomatic have also added an ‘Autoplay’ button into the options. Using this will allow you to spin several consecutive times at the same wager level.
Anything Extra Special About the Game and its Dice?
The largest paying out standard symbol in this game is the blue stars, and if you manage to fill an entire pay line with these, you’ll be rewarded with a maximum pay out of $2,500. The same goes for the 7 icon and the watermelon. Everything else pays out a lower amount than this, with the exception of the special symbols.
The special symbols start with the clock icon. These have the power of providing the ‘Cash Unlimited’ speciality to you. During every spin of the reels, a new win amount is shown in the clock panel at the side of the reels. When a win line brings three clock symbols into view, the value which is displayed in the clock is paid out to your balance. Furthermore, if you line up three clock, watermelon, star or 7 icons, or after winning the dice feature, the special random feature can activate. This will double your pay out.
The game also has a ‘Hold Feature’. This can be triggered automatically after each spin. The game will hold up to two of the reels if it foresees any good combination of two of the same symbols. The other remaining reel(s) can then be re-spun to try and bring in the second and/or third icon to match up and form a win.
Finally, a game called Super Dice wouldn’t really be genuine if it didn’t have a ‘Dice Feature’. This is triggered when three dice icons appear on a winning pay line. Here, you need to press the ‘Stop’ button to stop the dice reel. The number of eyes showing on it will indicate the number of freespins that you’ll receive. These are played at the same wager amount as the round which triggered them.
And what’s more, the developer has also made sure to include its gamble feature into this game as well.
Is it Really a Super Product?
Super Dice can’t really be considered anything special in the graphics or animation department, but when it comes to special added features, it really does provide something spectacular. However, as we mentioned, it’s already been done before, so innovation hasn’t really been used at all in this one.
