It’s sometimes not enough for online slot players to spend their time spinning just a single set of reels. You know, it’s often much more appealing to go for two, or even three. And, if you’re exceptionally adventurous, why not four? That’s exactly what you’ll be provided with in Novomatic’s ‘Sizzling Hout Quattro’ product. Four sets of reels, all of which have the chance to present you with winning combinations. Now, the reels aren’t specifically enhanced in any way when compared to other slot games, but you’ll find that this is of little relevance when you have four of them to contend with. Also, we’d normally be sick to death of hearing Novomatic’s awful arcade noises blaring out every time we spin the reels, but they somehow seem to fit in with the style of this product, presenting you with a game that is all around visually appealing enough to keep you entertained.
Four Times the Fun?
As mentioned, there are four sets of reels in play during this one, although you can choose how many of these you want to be in operation by clicking on the green panels linked to each one. A red panel will indicate that that set is not active. Each of these has five reels and three rows, presenting a fairly familiar layout on the whole. The icons incorporated into these sets are of the fruit-based variety, so you’ll spin your way through grapes, plums, oranges, lemons, cherries and watermelons, while stars and 7s will make up the remainder. These aren’t especially intriguing to view, instead taking on a more standard 2D graphical image to resemble the ones seen in traditional slot machines.
Each of the reel sets also has five pay lines, giving you a total of 20 altogether, should you have all four active. These can be reduced by removing one of the sets from being in active play, therefore decreasing in multiplies of five. The bet you place per line is also able to be changed, varying from its minimum of $0.02 up to its maximum of $5, which will therefore provide you with your overall maximum wager that can be placed of $100 per round. An ‘Autoplay’ button has also been added to enable you to spin several consecutive rounds of the game at the same wager level.
What Treasures Does the Game Hold?
The number 7 symbol provides this game with its highest paying icon, so if five of these appear on the reels across a winning pay line, you’ll receive a pay out of up to $50,000, depending upon the amount of your wager for that round.
There’s also a scatter icon included in the product, which is represented by the star. These icons pay out wherever they appear on the reels, and if you’re wagering at maximum level, five of these showing up will present you with a pay out of $2,500. All other icons on the reels offer up standard fruit icon pay outs, and there are no further specialities included alongside these.
The only extra addition is one of Novomatic’s mainstays, and that’s the gamble feature. This round is activated after every win you form in the main game. It presents you with the option of taking your winnings as they are, or playing a mini game on the side to try and boost them. Should you choose to do this, you’ll be taken to a new screen, which features a deck of playing cards. Choosing to play the gamble round will require you to guess the colour of the next card to be turned over. Getting it correct will see your winnings doubled, while an incorrect guess sees you lose them entirely.
Quattro the Excitement?
While having four reels sets might be appealing to some people, it would be a lot better if this game included some extra special features apart from the gamble round and scatters. Of course, these are great in themselves, but such a product as this could exceed way past what the developer presents here. For us, it’s a decent game, but it has much room for improvement.
