Who doesn’t love a great night out? Especially when it’s a night out in a tropical location, much like Oliver’s Bar provides. So, what’s your favourite tipple? A pint of beer? A glass of wine? A cocktail of all your favourite spirits? Or perhaps you’re more fond of knocking back a few shots. Whatever takes your fancy, you can rest assured that this game is ready, willing and able to provide it. It’s a little unfortunate that the developer, Novomatic, have decided it’s better to incorporate their frequently used arcade noise into it, which results in a bit of a lack lustre effect. Something more ideal would have been a piece of pop music, or a piece of dance music to fit in with the overall tone of the product.
Have a Drink on Us!
This game includes a total of five reels and three rows, presenting its players with a very familiar interface on which to play. There are several different icons incorporated, all of which are relative to drinking, partying and general vacation wonderment. So, you’ll find that there are symbols of cocktail umbrellas and stirrers, fruit to decorate glasses with, including cherries, limes and oranges, a couple of cocktails in glasses, and a few character icons. These include a woman in a pink gown with her arm around a man in a red jacket, a barman who is in the middle of shaking up a cocktail mixture, and three mates in a bit of a merry stupor with each other over a pint of beer.
Alongside the reels and rows, there’s a total of nine separate pay lines included, all of which are able to be customised to suit your own personal preferences. This can be done via the buttons at the bottom of the reels, with possibilities being available between a single line, three lines, five, seven, and finally, the highest amount of nine lines. Furthermore, you’re also able to change the value of a single credit, which ranges from $0.50 to $2.00. Additionally, players can switch around the amount of coins that they wager per line as well, which starts from a single one up to 100. Therefore, the maximum overall wager per spin stands at $900.
Cheers to a Great Night Out!
As with many other games, the thing that boosts Oliver’s Bar is its special features. This starts from its inclusion of a wild icon, which is represented by a large glassed cocktail, and this particular symbol will stand in for all others on the reels, except for the scatter. The icon is stacked on the reels, so provides a larger chance of you being able to craft a winning combination.
As mentioned, there is a scatter icon also incorporated into the game, and this is represented by the ‘Happy Hour’ sign. This will pay out wherever it appears on the reels, with five of them giving a huge pay out of $150,000 at maximum wager level. Also, should you manage to spin at least three of them onto the reels, you’ll receive 20 freespins, and all wins during this particular round are multiplied by four. Further freespins can be won during the round as well.
The only other additional feature that has been added to the game is the gamble round, which is activated at the end of every win you form in the main game. This allows you the opportunity to try and increase your winnings. In order to do so, you’ll need to play a side game, which requires you to guess the colour of the next card turned over. Making a correct guess will see your winnings doubled, while an incorrect guess will see them all lost.
A Vacation for the Ages
If you’re a fan of going out, and a fan of partying in pubs and clubs, then Oliver’s Bar will most certainly provide you with a game that provides familiar sensations. It’s nicely designed and includes a choice selection of bonus features as well. It would benefit from a more thematically appropriate soundtrack, although this is an unfortunate mistake that Novomatic makes in many of its products.
