If you’re like us and you enjoy being able to play an online video slot which comes complete with an intriguing theme such as magic and mystery, then also like us, you’ll enjoy playing the game entitled Winning Wizards from Microgaming. What’s actually better than the spells and magic that wizards are able to conjure up? The fact that they’re wizards who win, of course! Now, as we mentioned, we love a game that uses this particular theme as a base, but one thing that really holds this one back is its lack of special features. However, we’ll get to that particular point in a short while. The overall interface of the game is presented with decent enough graphics, so you’ll definitely be able to embrace the visual appeal of it, and it’s also got some interesting animations included alongside as well. There’s a fairly odd piece of music which plays every time you spin the reels, but it’s a good kind of odd, bringing in a bit more mystery to it on the whole. One thing we will say about the game is that it’s really great if you’re the kind of player who prefers to access the simpler type of products.
Alakazam!
It doesn’t take much magic to start playing this game, as it features a fairly regular layout of five reels and three rows, so there’s nothing unfamiliar about this. You’ll also find that the symbols of the game are present here as well, starting with the frequently used J, K, Q and 10 icons. These are joined by five other more thematically relevant symbols, and these exist in the form of a ruby-studded powerful ring, a shimmering blue vial filled with some magical concoction, and a spell book where the wizard gets all of his creations from. There’s also a fourth icon which is the shimmering diamond-topped magic staff, and the final one is that of the wizard himself.
However, the interface of the game doesn’t stop there, because Microgaming have also incorporated a total of five different pay lines into it as well. You’re able to fully customise these to suit your own preferences though, either by clicking on a number from either side of the reels or by using the ‘Bet One’ button at the bottom of the screen. Furthermore, all players have the chance to change around the bet that they place per spin as well, and this is done with the plus and minus buttons which are also located at the bottom of the screen. This provides a choice of bets between $1.25 and $25 per round across all five of the bet lines.
The Loss of Magical Specialities
It’s a shame for this game, as it has such a great base theme that it would really benefit from some wonderful specialities alongside. However, Winning Wizards doesn’t actually incorporate anything other than the main game into its offerings. No wild icons. No scatters. No bonus rounds. Just the substandard spinning of the reels.
The highest pay out that you’re able to achieve in this one is of 10,000 coins, and this is only able to be won by spinning five of the wizard icons onto an active pay line. While this isn’t really considered to be a special feature of sorts, it’s perhaps one of its more attractive additions.
A Game That Misses Out
While we do enjoy spinning the reels of this one, it doesn’t take so long for it to become a bit monotonous due to its fairly basic game play. It really misses out on providing its players with adequate additional extras, despite the fact that it has some nice graphics and animations included within.
