With just the three reels, this is a homage to the games that dominated the slot business in years gone by. It still gives you plenty of opportunities to see your account balance rising as high as a bee.
Buzz Time
Here’s a slot from Microgaming that does its best to mix the old with the new and succeeds. It has a fantastic look and to be honest, it’s the bees knees as far as this reviewer is concerned.
It’s another of the three reel slots that Microgaming love releasing alongside their more complicate five reelers. However, this one looks a lot different from most of the three-reel games they produce. The formula always seems to be the left-hand side of the screen having the reels and the logo and the paytable on the right-hand side.
Not so here though. The reels are in the bottom centre of the screen and above that you have a honeycomb that’s full of images of the cheeky looking bee. The paytable remains on the right-hand side of the screen The left-hand side of the screen has details of the nudges available and in the bottom left-hand we see the bee in all his glory with a $ medallion around his neck and the logo.
This slot also has a bonus feature which isn’t too common in these three-reel releases from Microgaming. The addition of nudges and holds is also a welcome addition and brings back plenty of memories.
Honey Honey
The game has just the three reels and one pay-line. That might leave you feeling a bit deprived after playing all those games that have far more to try and get wins on. The symbols include the bee who has sunglasses on and a big smile on his face. You will too if getting three on the pay-line as that wins you 500x your line bet. There’s also a bee hive, a bar symbol, cherries, watermelon, oranges, plums, and grapes. The minimum cost of playing is €0.10 and the maximum €10.
Take It or Leave It
There’s also a honey pot symbol and three of these on the pay-line will trigger the Take It Or Leave It Bonus game. This is when that honeycomb above the reels comes into play. First of all, you need to press the ‘Stop’ button and this gives you either ‘1’, ‘2’ or ‘3.’ What’s that all about? Well, it decides just how much you win. Each of those honeycombs now turn into a multiplier and this can be between 10x and 120x. If you don’t like what you get you can turn it down. A new offer is made and you can keep refusing them if you wish until there’s just one left.
Give Me A Nudge
Back in the day I used to love the nudges and holds on fruit machines. In this retro game, they are back again and you can get nudges awarded randomly and hopefully help you get a winning combination. They can be repeated or sometimes held over until the next spin of the reels. It’s the same with the holds feature where freezing a reel might just get you a win on the next spin.
For a three-reel game this is full of special features. There’s also the Shifta Feature where randomly a reel will be held. Then the other two are spun and a win is guaranteed. Then there’s the Let ‘em Spin feature which can come up after a spot of nudging. If there are two matching symbols on the pay-line, this feature tells you not to hold anything and just spin the reels guaranteeing you a winning combination.
The features keep on coming with the ‘Hold This Reel’ where one reel begins to shake. Why? Well that’s a hint you should hold the reel for a guaranteed win. Finally, there’s the Superhold where a win can be held for more than one spin.
Final Words
This may be a three-reel game but it has a lot going on. There are plenty of chances to get some good wins and the nudges/holds often get you winning combinations. Definitely worth a play.
