Lucky Leprechaun
What would slot designers do without the Emerald Isle? They do seem to love putting out plenty of games with an Irish related theme and of course some have been enormous successes. The game has a rather basic look but itu2019s one of the earlier Microgaming slot games so thatu2019s understandable.

The game has a rather basic look but it’s one of the earlier Microgaming slot games so that’s understandable. The backdrop to the game shows a lush looking green field in Ireland with some hills in the background. The game itself has five reels and there are three rows of symbols. In all there are 20 fixed pay-lines and your decision is how much to stake on each spin of the reels.
The minimum cost of playing the game is €0.20 and the highest amount you can stake on one spin is €100. Simply work out what you can safely afford to stake on the game and just enjoy playing it.
Play that FIddle
The symbols in this game are a bit cartoonish but I have no problem whatsoever with that. It’s the usual list of symbols you’d see in a game that has an Irish theme. There’s a fiddle (violin to the posh readers out there), some pints of beer, a smoking pipe (they’re not the healthiest bunch are they?) and of course there’s the leprechaun himself who may or may not be lucky for you, hopefully not the latter. He has one massive ear that looks a bit like one Mr Spock has in ‘Star Trek.’ We can’t see the other one, perhaps there’s no room. The lower paying symbols are the ten to Ace playing cards. At least they have a little bit of an Irish look to them as they are gilded with a Celtic design (the race not the football team).
Stacked for Success
The wild is the Lucky Leprechaun logo and can substitute for other symbols to hopefully get you a host of winning combinations. Your chances are good as the wild symbol is stacked not just in the base game but also the free spins bonus game. It can’t sub for the two bonus symbols which are the inevitable pot of gold and the four leaf clover.
There are some good wins to be had here. If you can get five of the wild symbols on an activated pay-line that wins you 500x your line stake and it’s 400x for five of the leprechauns, a small fortune perhaps? Five violins pay out 300x your line bet and you’ll love to appreciate pints of Guinness even more if you win 250 for five on an activated pay-line. Mind you, five pints of Guinness might mean you have to use the autoplay feature for a while and it won’t just be the reels that’ll be spinning.
Hit the Winning Trail
The free spins round is triggered by the four leaf clover symbol. No point looking around all the reels for this as it only appears on the fifth reel. If it lands, there the that’s the free spins triggered and initially you receive five of them with all wins doubled.
During those free spins there are small gold or green clovers that may be attached to those playing card symbols. You’ll be more than keen to see those appear as each green clover adds a further free spin and the gold clover increases the multiplier by 1x up to a maximum of 5x.
It’s not all about the free spins though as there is also the Trail O’ Fortune Bonus Game. To trigger this, you need at least three of the pot of gold symbol to appear anywhere on the reels. If that happens then you receive four free spin if it’s triggered by three pot of gold symbols. Four takes that up to five free spins and five see you playing with six. You have to make your way along a trail and the further you get, the more you win with top prize of 1000x your total stake if you make it to the end of the trail. If you’re lucky enough to find an emerald along the way, then this awards you an extra spin.
Last Words
Definitely a game you should be playing. The theme is hardly original but well adhered to. There are some good wins to be had and the bonus game can really be lucrative if Irish luck is shining in your direction.
