The beautiful game is our choice of slot machine when will play Football, from Endorphina. Despite lacking an interesting name, this real cash slot has some goals to deliver its players, all you need to do is keep that fitness up. Not that you’re in for a hard slog, for this is a gently paced game from the brand rather than a heavy hitting tournament.
In regards to how it initial appears, it reminds us a little of their other sports related slots, primarily 2016 Gladiators. The reason for this is because it has the same cartoony style, though here the design is a bit more animated than in previous examples. Bringing these to points together, we can determine that this is meant to be an online activity with comedic value rather than simply catering to fanatics.
One for All?
Football starts to flag up issues though when you take a closer look at the aesthetic, not because it’s poorly designed, but because of how stereotypical it is. If you’ve read some of our reviews before, you’ll know that we’re not big on outdated notions of gendered gaming; a lot has changed since 1990. Therefore, when a slot machine such as this refuses to identify that female players can appreciate football too, we start to run into problems.
We’re not saying women won’t play this title, for if they have a passion for the sport they more than likely will. However, what we are saying is that the interface doesn’t easily accommodate the female gamer. This isn’t because it lacks pink frills or the like, but because the construction feels wholly masculine. You might disagree, and there’s certainly more gendered examples out there, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to see more progress at a quicker pace.
All the Cards
There’s a yellow card and a red one inside the paytable, as you’d expect given the importance of them in real life football. Not only do these two payout when in a combination of three or more, but if you get five of the same card in a row, the returns will be huge. If you up the wager to the max, you’re looking at 2,100 and 4,200!
Seeing as these are the highest paying tiles inside the game, it also means that they’re the hardest to come by, and so you’re not going to find them all that often. You might see them alone or a few of them scattered about, but unless they hit a winning line you’re out for the count.
Whistle Blown
The Whistle symbol is the one that delivers the free games, which is no doubt why a lot of you are playing; extra spins for no cash is a major bonus for budget watching gamers. As many as 45 can be yours, but you may also end up with as few as 15, meaning your playthrough might stink a lot more than your teammates. The trick is not to give up, play long enough and you’ll eventually land the combo.
This feature isn’t that impressive other than that, even though it has a x3 multiplier. Perhaps it’s because we know how often that attribute is now included in other free spins, from other brands, but we’re starting to tire of the same old extra spins setup. Some new blood is needed, and you’d think that newcomers like Endorphina would be the ones to do it.
Same Name, Same Game?
Football from Endorphina isn’t the only real cash slot that decided to keep it simple when it came to its name – it seems 777igt also had the same idea, and so you get two separate experiences that come up every time you search ‘football’. Funnily enough, we’d recommend playing the 777igt title, if for nothing more than to see what else the football fandom can throw your way.
End of Match Whistle
Endorphina didn’t quite wow us with this one; the interface just felt way too flat and rigid to ever be a gripping battle of luck and determination. We’d like to say that this is the first time we’ve felt that way, but it seems to be a conclusion that dogs the brand and all its games. It’s like they get so far and then never push the envelope further. Maybe one day they will, but it won’t be today, and it won’t be with Football.
