Steal from the rich to give to the poor, that was Robin Hood’s motto. And while we wouldn’t like to speculate on your financial circumstances, it is fair to say that spinning the big prizes in Forest Band will help you to become that little bit better off.
The forest band in question is Robin Hood and his merry men, plus the ravishing Maid Marion to provide the eye candy, and they offer you five reels on which to spin one of the 20 paylines.
As ever, you’re looking to match three or more symbols on adjacent reels, but secretly you will be hoping to trigger the free spins round or Jackpot Cards (more on those later).
Forest Friends
Let’s start at the bottom in Forest Band with the playing card symbols. King, Queen and Jack pay 10 coins, 20 coins and 50 coins for matching three, four or five on a payline from a 1 coin bet, while the Ace in the pack earns 10 coins, 40 coins and 100 coins respectively.
The next layer of the pay structure includes Robin Hood’s Hat and the Warning Horn. Match three, four or five of these on your reels and you will earn 20, 50 and 150 coins for your efforts.
Next up are the Falcon and that lovely Bag of Coins that looks like it has just been liberated from the Sheriff and his cronies. Players can earn up to 400 coins for spinning five of either of these, with 50 and 125 coins on offer for three and four matches.
The top tier of prizes available in the main game comes courtesy of Maid Marion and the man himself, Robin Hood. She will reward players with 10 coins, 75 coins, 200 coins and 750 coins on offer for two or more, while Robin is in a slightly more generous mood and pays 10 coins, 75 coins, 400 coins and 1,000 coins for the same denominations.
Ave you managed to nab a win of less than 700 coins and feel a bit disgruntled at the size of your loot? Not to worry; you can always gamble it for a chance to double up. All you need to do is correctly guess the colour of a playing card, so you have a one in two chance of striking lucky.
Storm the Castle
There is room in this Forest Band for a couple more players, so EGT have added a wild and a scatter into the mix too. The wild symbol is the Sheriff’s Castle, a location that Robin and his crew like to frequent when they are in the mood for mischief, and this will only appear on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 as a result. But it will substitute for all other game symbols apart from the scatter, and so the upshot is that some fine winning combinations can be created.
The scatter is the Target, which Robin has clearly been practising his arrow shooting on. This will only appear on reels 1, 3 and 5, and will pay 100 coins for spinning three on your reels – although, bizarrely, there are no prizes for four or five. But, by way of consolation, three is all it takes to trigger the free spins round and earn 10 freebies with which to accumulate some steady payouts.
There is an extra special bonus in the free spins round to get the juices flowing. Any wilds that appear on your reels during a free spin will stay there until all of your freebies have been used up; and we know just what kind of rewards the wilds can bring. The free spins round is played on an alternative set of reels, and – here’s something that will annoy slot gamers around the globe – it cannot be re-triggered.
On the Cards
And we can’t let a review of an EGT slot title go by without mentioning the Jackpot Cards feature. This is exclusive to EGT and can often elevate their rather tired-looking games to new levels.
Why? Because of the riches on offer. Take a look at the amounts of cash spinning around at the top of the screen, because they are hat you could win here!
And so, all-in-all we can say that Forest Band is your standard EGT game; same old format, same old graphics. The addition of the static wild in the free spins round is a plus, but really if you want to win a big prize here you better hope that you trigger the Jackpot Cards feature. Sadly this game isn’t available on Android or iPad yet it seems.
