It’s time to enjoy a taste of the Orient in Dragon Reels; the slot game from EGT that takes its cues from ancient Chinese mythology.

This is the standard set up from EGT, and anybody that has played one of their titles before will now what is in store. Their games often look a tad dated, but they are generally saved by fun themes, generous payouts and that fantastic Jackpot Cards. More on that later.

In terms of the symbols you need to be looking out for in Dragon Reels, first of all there are the playing card symbols – King right through to Nine (a rather frustrating mount of base symbols). These pay 10, 20 and 100 coins for matching three or more based on a 1 coin stake.

The last of the playing card symbols, the Ace, stands out on its own; paying 10, 40 and 200 coins.

The Firelighters will ignite your game if you spin three (10 coins), four (50 coins) or five (200 coins) on your reels, whilst the Lanterns earn 10 coins, 100 coins and 400 coins respectively.

Finally, there are the two oriental characters – the male and the female – and while she looks more of a picture, it is he who pays the most. The lady rewards players for spinning a trio with 10 coins, a quadruple with 100 coins and the full nap pays 750 coins. And the oriental gentleman is feeling most generous; with 10 coin, 100 coins and 1,000 coins on offer for matching three, four or five on a payline.

Then there are the wild and the scatter symbols. The wild is that fantastic Dragon, and this is good to you in two ways: firstly, by paying 100 coins, 1,000 coins and 5,000 coins for spinning three or more, and then the fund doesn’t stop there as the wild will also substitute for all symbols apart from the scatter to create additional winning spins. You won’t be breathing fire if you spin five Dragons, but you will certainly be feeling pretty good.

The scatter, which is the Oriental Icon, also plays a double hand in Dragon Reels. This will pay out some handsome prizes – 2 coins for two, 100 coins for three, 1,250 coins for four and 2,500 coins for five to be precise – and then it offers the tremendous bonus of triggering the free spins round.

Spin three or more of the Oriental Icon and you will earn 10 free ones, each of which is subject to a 2x multiplier and played on a different set of reels. In a nice twist on the usual format, the wild symbol will now substitute for all symbols, including the scatter, to help players create even greater prizes. Should you manage to re-trigger the freebies round then you will earn five free spins and these will be added to your tally.

Cards on the Table

The last feature to watch out for in Dragon Reels is that unstoppable Jackpot Cards game. See those four jackpot numbers that are spinning madly at the top of the screen? These tell you the kind of prizes on offer in this bonus game.

Your job is to pick from the 12 playing cards on offer, of which there are three of each suit. When you have matched three of the same suit, you win the relevant prize at the top of the screen.
