      Skull Duggery Slot Review

There’s many a game that features pirates as its theme. The target for any slot designer is to try and come up with something a little bit diferent. Another major task for Microgaming who come up with some great games. Is this one of them though?

It doesn’t get off to a good start by failing to have the backdrop of a pirate ship. At least they make up for it with some large, bright and cheerful symbols. In all the game has five reels, three rows of symbols and a maximum of nine pay lines. It’s your decision how many of the pay lines to activate, same goes for your coin size and how many you play on each spin of the reels. Playing the maximum number of pay lines but with the minimum coin level and one coin will cost you just €0.09 and €45. Not a bad range at all but it’s not going to be attracting the high rollers out there is it. Your task is simply to decide just how much you can safely afford to stake on each spin of the reels.

      The Age of Piracy

This is one of the older Microgaming slot games and it does look it. A bit dated for sure but the symbols aren’t that bad. There’s a pirate with a red beard, a treasure map (it wouldn’t be a pirate-themed game without a treasure map) and a beer stein. It also appears this group of pirates might be vegetarian as there’s a whole lot of fruit here. Tha includes grapes, bananas, coconuts, oranges and mangoes.

      Triple Delight

The wild symbol in this game is the Skull Duggery logo. It can substitute for other symbols to get you some winning combinations. However, it can only do that for the fruit symbols which is a bit strange. You’ll be glad when it does though as the wins it creates are tripled. Five of the wilds on an active payline wins you 12000x your line bet.

The bonus symbol in this game is the thief who’s making his escape with a heavy looking treasure chest on his back. Also the game has a scatter symbol which is a green skull sat on top of a pile of money.

As is the case with many Microgaming slot releases, it can be played in regular or expert mode. I’m not quite sure why you’d want to just play it in regular mode. The only difference between the two is the ability to have an autoplay feature. You can set this so they stop when a certain balance is reached or you are lucky enough to get a big win. The last thing you want to do is lose that.

Make sure you find out as much about the game as you can before playing it for real. The paytable has all the information you will be looking for such as how much each winning combination will pay you. Having some free games will be really helpful too.

      Booty Bonus Time

Who’s up for a Booty Bonus? Well in order to get one in ‘Skull Duggery’ you need to get three of the bonus symbols on an active payline. That does mean you’re better off playing as many pay lines as you can. When you trigger the bonus game there’s five shipmates appear on the deck of their pirate ship (we finally get to see it). You have to choose one to be chucked into the sea. A bit cruel but there’s a cash prize available so go for it. How much you receive depends on how many of the bonus symbols that triggered the bonus game. If you were lucky enough to have five of them trigger it, then you could end up winning 3000x your line stake.

      In Conclusion

It has to be said there are a lot more pirate games out there that are better than ‘Skull Duggery.’  Perhaps it’s the age of the game to blame because Microgaming have put out tons better games since this was released. There are some good prizes to be won and the soundtrack isn’t too irritating. A slightly longer bonus game would have been appreciated too.
