We’re back with another one of Playtech’s Marvel creations, only this time it’s with the less popular hero, Daredevil. After a poor reception to the film starring Ben Affleck, a lot of improvement was needed to help give this superhero as strong a following as Iron Man, etc. The latest TV series has helped that transition, but before that it was this video slot that held all the power.

Daredevil is your way of interacting with a badass hero, but without the fluff of Hollywood colouring its reels and ruining the original story. You have 5 reels and 20 winlines to play through, with starting bets coming in at just 2 credits. If we’re totally honest, the variance isn’t as good as that seen in the Iron Man slots, of which there’s three, but the low variance here is satisfying enough.

Bullseye

You’ll have noticed the target that you can move about the grid, able to click it in place wherever you want; this is your means of taking advantage of the only bonus included in the gameplay. The Bulleyes Feature has a simple system on which it works: you place the target where you want, and should the villain with the same symbol carved into his head land there, you get a multiplied win of x3.

This basic bonus round may not be as awe inspiring as a lot of other specials, but we like how you get to interact inside the main game, rather than waiting for a feature to begin. It feels innovative, helping to increase the entertainment factor of this game.

Double DDs

Should you be looking for more action than the feature mentioned above, there’s the free games to get stuck into. Although less exciting and more predictable, the money can be decent. Get three of the Daredevil logos and you’ll be given 10 free games.

Our red clad hero doesn’t just stop there, he scans the matrix and changes several of the symbols into wilds, which means that substituted wins could start popping up all over the place. During your playthrough, there’s also the chance that the logos will reappear and activate another set of free games, an extra that can be played indefinitely, though we never experienced it to that extent.

Mystery Cash Prizes

There’s a progressive Marvel Jackpot to play for when you take part in this game. Seeing as it’s always offered up in Marvel slot machines from Playtech, the level of wins remain the same: Ultimate Power, Super Power, Extra Power, and Power. This then means that you’re never blown away or surprised by the inclusion of these rewards.

In case you’re not aware of what happens, the round will launch randomly, where you’ll then have to play a mix and match game until you line up three of the same jackpot icons. We appreciate having the chance to get a lot of cash, but we wish that the same generic setup wasn’t used inside every Marvel game, for the enjoyment starts to diminish.

Fixed Turnout

Daredevil has fixed winlines, 20 in total, which means that you have little room to customise your experience. You can control what you stake, but that’s about it. Even though this is limiting initially, it does mean that you’ll always have an equal amount of chance as the next gamer. And so, on this occasion, having a fixed number is actually better than being able to reduce that total down to a single line.

We Dare You to Play

This Playtech slot machine is a decent middling slot machine that brings a superhero to life, but other than that it does little else. We expected an intensity that never appeared, though we almost felt it when the Bullseye Feature got started. Perhaps the biggest issue is that the design isn’t as modern or as enthralling as it could have been, so it doesn’t instil that level of danger or adventure that other superhero titles have.

We’d give Daredevil a three star rating, which is quite the positive outcome for a slot machine of this age and size.
