      River Queen Slot Review

As soon as you see this game in action, or at least, if you’re one of us, you’ll think of the song, ‘Proud Mary’ by Credence Clearwater Revival, also made popular by Ike and Tina Turner. And when you play this game, you’ll also be “rollin’ on a river”, for sure, as you board the River Queen liner! That’s right, the game is all based around those famous ships that used to cruise along the Mississippi river, providing poker and various other card games to the vast sea of players that would join them. Gambling has a vast history along the river, and this game definitely provides a sort of insight into what life would have been like on such vessels, and at such a time. The setting takes place in New Orleans, Louisiana – with Bourbon street being pointed out by a lamp post on the right hand side. It’s vintage. It’s visually appealing. And we love it!

If You Come Down to the River…

The game is filled to capacity with five reels and four rows, with Novomatic providing a slightly adjusted layout to the regular interface seen by gamers. As far as the icons of the reels go, they are mainly situated around A, J, K, Q, 9 and 10 – or at least, these ones appear more so than the others in our experience. However, there’s also the chance of seeing a pair of dice, a set of four playing cards, a stack of poker chips, and two character icons. One of these is a gambling man, holding up his set of poker cards, while the other is a female with roses in her hair – possibly one of the boat’s serving girls. Finally, an external shot of the ship itself makes up the final symbol, and all of them are designed in a very graphically pleasing way.

In addition to its reels and rows, players will also be able to place wagers across 50 different pay lines, although these can be readily customised to suit your own personal preferences. Not only that, but you can also change the bet you place per active line, which ranges from $0.01 up to its maximum of $2. This, therefore, provides all players with the chance of placing a total maximum wager of $100 per round. An ‘Autoplay’ button has also been added to the game, allowing several consecutive spins to take place at the same wager level.

…Bet You Gonna Find Some Treasures Within

River Queen offers up a nice choice of extras which add a special something to the product, starting with its very own wild symbol. This comes in the form of the aforementioned serving girl, and she will substitute for all other symbols on the reels in order to make a winning combination. The only icon with the exception to this rule is the scatter.

And speaking of the scatter symbol, this is represented by the image of the liner in all its splendour. These pay out regardless of their location on the reels, and if you manage to spin five of them, you’ll be paid out a total of $20,000 at maximum wager level. Furthermore, three or more of these showing up will trigger the product’s freespins round. This round provides you with 10 freespins of the reels, and during this round, you’ll find the inclusion of a ‘Moving Wilds’ feature. This substitutes for all other symbols on the reels, much like the standard wild, and can fill an entire reel to offer up greater chances of winning.

Finally, there’s a gamble feature added to the game, which is one of Novomatic’s frequent integrations. This allows all players the chance to increase their winnings, as the round is triggered after every successful matching combination is created during the main game. Here, you’ll play a side game where you’re presented with some playing cards, and you simply need to guess the colour of the next one to be turned over. A correct guess will see your winnings double.

      The River Queen’s Wonders

This product from Novomatic is by far one of its better games. If there wasn’t the addition of that frustrating arcade music, it would be in the top five. Its graphics are very pleasing, the animations are the same, and you’re able to participate in some enthralling game play throughout.
