      Red Lady Slot Review

You would definitely be forgiven for not understanding the title of this game in the first instance. ‘Red Lady’ makes us think of a beautiful female with a long red dress on, possibly presenting a game similar to the IGT slot, ‘Black Widow’. However, instead of that, what you’ll find with this offering from Novomatic is a product based around the pirate theme. Odd as that may be, the theme is put to good use, with the developer creating a wonderfully stormy ocean view on one side of the reels to contrast to the bright and still seas of the other side. We still can’t stress enough how much Novomatic need lessons in appropriate game sounds, but we’ll let that one side for now. Furthermore, it’s very graphically sound, so the incorporated music is but a minor issue when it comes to Red Lady.

Ready to Sail the Seas, Matey?

So, okay, the game doesn’t actually have any pirates in view on it, although there’s lot of imagery related to the theme. This will allow you to spin your way through symbols of a colourful parrot and a set of crossed pistols. There’s also a huge ship with the skull and crossbones sign on it, while a compass makes up another one. Finally, the only other image which appears as an icon is a woman who has apparently taken it upon herself to either dress like a captain of a ship out of enjoyment for the look, or who is actually captaining a vessel without a crew. In any event, she is, without a doubt, the red lady, considering her hair is coloured as such.

The game itself is played on an interface of five reels and three rows, so here’s another one with a standard layout offering. In addition to this, the developer has also added a total of 10 separate pay lines, although if you have a preference for wagering on a certain amount, you are able to customise these. Not only that, but gamers can also change the bet amount that they place per active pay line. This starts from its minimum level of $0.04 and is then increased with the plus button to the right, reaching a maximum level of $10. On the whole, this provides players with the opportunity of placing a maximum overall wager of $100 per round.

      Where’s the Special Treasures?

As with a vast majority of online slot games, Red Lady also contains its own special features as well. The first of these is its wild symbol, which is represented by the aforementioned compass. This will stand in for other icons on the reels in order to make a winning combination, and should you manage to spin five onto the reels, you’ll be in with the chance of receiving a pay out of up to $20,000.

In addition to its wild status, the compass is also a scatter symbol, meaning that it will pay out wherever is appears on the reels. Should three or more of these appear, they will trigger the 10 freespins round, which also includes its own additional feature of a special expanding wild. This particular bonus symbol is randomly selected at the beginning of each of your freespins, and during the round, following the pay out of regular icons, the special bonus symbol may expand to cover three positions on the reel, paying like a regular symbol but even on non-adjacent positions.

The only other addition to this game is its gamble round, which is something that Novomatic seem to insist on having in their products. This is activated at the end of each win you create in the base game. This offers up the opportunity to increase your winnings by playing a side game. This will present you with a deck of playing cards, and you’ll just need to try and guess the colour of the next card to be turned over. Doing so correctly will see your winnings boosted by two times.

      Should You Climb Aboard?

We’d say that while Red Lady isn’t particularly one of the best pirate-themed games, it’s very nicely made in terms of graphics and animations. So, visually, it’s very appealing. It could do with some tweaking here and there in order to remove or replace some nuances, but on the whole, it provides an entertaining game.
