Nextgen Gaming Giant Gems

As NextGen Gaming is a rather adaptable brand, at least in terms of themes, weu2019re not too surprised to see a slot like Giant Gems. This is an old style real cash slot that uses classic imagery to propel the gameplay forward.

      Giant Gems Slot Review

As NextGen Gaming is a rather adaptable brand, at least in terms of themes, we’re not too surprised to see a slot like Giant Gems. This is an old style real cash slot that uses classic imagery to propel the gameplay forward. There are a few twists and turns to be found, but mainly the paytable focuses on money and that factor alone. It’s a purist experience.

When you first load up the game, you’ll notice that everything feels enlarged: the grid seems elongated, and the images within bigger than normal. However, this is before you even activate the Fortune Spins and access the giant gemstones of the grid. As you can see, while the graphics are lacklustre, the matrix isn’t without shining examples of dynamic gameplay.

      Big Bucks

Typically we don’t put too much focus on the betting range, for many slots adopt a generally accessible stance, however in this case, we wanted to highlight the friendly nature of the betting. In the past NextGen have rarely exceeded the 250 credits maximum wager mark, yet in this game they crank it up to 500. That’s great news for high rollers, but for those on a budget, you’re possibly going to feel left behind.

Fortunately though, there’s a couple of perks to the range provided: firstly, your starting point is a manageable 0.10, and secondly, you don’t have a range that impacts too greatly on the grid. At least not until you start the Giant Gems Feature, which we’ll come to momentarily. Consequently, you have a wide arching range that is fit for all walks of users.

      Fortune Favours the Brave

So let’s get onto those Fortune Spin options, an additional spin toggle that is separate from the base game. When you click this a new set of betting options will reveal themselves, with you needing to select from five tiers given, each with their own set of values. This is an additional bet that goes on top of your standard bet, so make sure you fully understand the financial implications before trying this feature.

When you spin the reels now, you’ll occasionally notice that a GIANT jewel goes whizzing on by, sometimes it’ll even land on the active winlines and payout wads of cash. These gemstones can only land on the second, third and fourth reels, but they’ll gift you so much cash you’ll not care for their slightly volatile nature. The rewards you’re looking at are between x100 and x500, with each gem colour coded via its background.

      A Jewellery Box

If, like us, you love everything that glitters, you’ll want to keep on playing these jewels and gems themed slots. That’s okay, as we’ve formed quite the comprehensive list of some of the best ones out there, like Gems Gems Gems. Yes, the title is a little boring, but we promise that this WMS title is a great addition to your already growing list of slot machines.

The setup of the title is much different from Giant Gems, as there’s four sets of grids rather than the standard one. This in turn means that you can get more of the same payouts, resulting in a larger final win. However, we’d argue that the paytable isn’t nearly as engaging as the one NextGen delivers. Both offer a great selection of gems fit for any jewellery box though, and so you should be happy whichever one you decide to play.

      A GIANT Success?

Having played a couple of rounds of Giant Gems, while a pleasant enough experience, it isn’t one we felt moved by; it felt too void of diversity. True, it doesn’t rely on a massive paytable to see you through to the end, and so there’s a beauty to that simplicity. However, we still felt a pang of longing when it came down to our wins. They just lacked depth. And as for the Fortune Spins, while a clever addition, it’s an extra you have to pay for in order to access, and so we’re not a fan of it.
