      The Rat Pack Slot Review

We’re pretty much all aware of ‘The Rat Pack’ group, right? That troop of singers including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. They sang such recognised songs as King of the Road, I’ve Got You Under My Skin and Fly Me to the Moon. Well, now imagine all of those songs being sung by actual rats, and you’ve got yourself this entertaining slot game from Microgaming. Yes, it’s true. You can’t possibly have a game entitled as such without the literal inclusion of the titular beings. And whenever you’re spinning the reels of this game, you’ll be charmed by the smooth classic sounds of a piano and double bass merged with jazzy drums. It has all the aura of a 1950s jazz club, and meanwhile, you’ll be presented with a vibrant purple background upon which to play it. Graphically speaking, it’s exceptionally well made, featuring sharp and crisp images, whilst also offering up some very compelling game play and special features alongside. Ladies and gentlemen, The Rat Pack is officially in town and ready to thoroughly entertain you.

Croon Along with the Best of Them!

You’ll find that the design of this game is slightly different to what is considered a regular video slot display. It still provides you with five reels, but there’s also the inclusion of a total of four rows, so you’ll have extra space to create winning combinations. It’s upon these reels that you’ll find the various different symbols of the game, and these begin with often used A, J, K, Q and 10 icons, each of which has been adorned with an instrument of some sort. Then, there are five character symbols as well, each of which is a rodent in the middle of performing. So, there’s the smiling piano player rat, and he is followed up by the icon of two female rats as backing singers. Then, there are three further icons of rats with microphones – obviously representing the lead vocalists of the group.

As far as the remainder of the game’s interface is concerned, players will see that a total of 30 different pay lines have been incorporated into it. Microgaming have made it possible for you to customise these though, and this can be done by either clicking on a number from either side of the reels, or by using the ‘Lines’ button. Further to this, you’re also able to adjust the amount of the wager you place per round, and this is done firstly by altering the value of a single coin. You’re able to choose between coin values of $0.01 up to $0.50, and in addition, you can choose how many of these to bet per line, between one and 10. This allows a maximum overall wager of $150 to be played.

      Play That Bass!

One of the best things about this game is its incorporated special features, and these begin with the wild symbol. This is represented by the game’s logo, and as a wild it will substitute for all other icons on the reels in order to form a winning combination, with the exceptions to this rule being the scatter and the multiplier wild. Should five of these particular wilds show up on a winning pay line, you’ll receive a maximum pay out of 5,000 coins.

As noted, there is also a multiplier wild as well, and this is represented by the icon with the ‘2X’ writing on it. While this works in the same way as the standard wild, standing in for all other icons on the reels except scatters in order to form a win, it will also double your pay out at the same time!

And speaking of the scatter symbol, this is represented by the gold vinyl record. As a scatter, it will offer up a pay out wherever it should show up on the reels, with five of them multiplying your wager placed by times 100. Furthermore, if three or more come into view, you’ll activate the game’s freespins round. You’ll be provided with a random number of freespins, and only scatter symbol wins are awarded during this round. However, each time a scatter comes into view on a reel, that reel is held for the next spin. The freespins round only ends when no further scatter icons show up.

      Summary

The Rat Pack is certainly a very entertaining game, mainly thanks to its imagery and soundtrack all coming together to form a very cohesive and playable product. Add to that its special feature rounds, and all in all, it’s a great addition to the Microgaming portfolio.
