      Gift Rap Slot Review

It seems like an odd idea to merge the idea of gift giving with the theme of rap music, although ‘Gift Rap’ from Microgaming doesn’t really instil the rap topic too much into the product. Instead, it provides players with a look into what Christmas elves might get up to in their spare time, away from the creation of all the different toys given to good children. On the whole, it appears as though the elves are more interested in the punk rock lifestyle rather than that of a rapper, but we’ll get to that a little more later. As far as the game is concerned, it’s very much Christmas-themed overall, complete with jingling bells to accompany your game play. Graphically speaking, it’s fairly decent, although it won’t be winning any awards for the most visually appealing product around. If we were to describe it in one word though, it would seem most appropriate to say, ‘unfinished’, because that’s how it feels to us. It’s as though Microgaming thought of a theme, started to incorporate it into the product, and then got bored part way through, so decided to just leave it as it is. Whether or not that’s a bad thing, you’ll need to read on or play for yourself to find out.

      Wrapping or Rapping?

The design of the game is presented to players on a five reel and three row layout, so you’ll have a fairly standard interface on which to spin the reels. As far as the icons are concerned, these exist in a few different forms, the first of which are various different presents to give to the nice children. Five of these are integrated into the game, with a colourful, plastic mallet being the first, and a spinning top being the second. Joining these are a cassette player complete with microphone, a teddy bear with a drum, and finally, a wind-up cymbal-clashing monkey. As well as these standard icons, you’ll find three images of Santa’s elves. The first of these is two females, both of whom look more like 80s punks than anything else, and who appear to be singing into a candy cane. The other two icons are male elves, both of whom also look more like rockers than rappers.

As well as its icons, reels and rows, Gift Rap also includes a total of 25 different pay lines, but players do have the chance to adjust this feature, simply by clicking on the ‘Select Lines’ button. In addition, you’ll also be able to switch around the amount of the wager you place per spin, which is done first of all by changing the value of a single coin. This offers up a range of between $0.01 and $1 per line, and gamers can also alter the amount of coins they play per line as well, with a range of between one and 10 available to choose from. Should you decide to push these up to their highest levels, you’ll be playing a maximum overall wager of $250 per spin.

      Gift-Wrapped Specialities

The special features of this game are all to play for, with the first of them being its wild symbol. This is represented by the red bauble with the game’s title etched into it. Should this make an appearance, it will substitute for all other icons on the reels, except for the scatter and bonus symbols. Five of them showing up on a winning pay line offers a pay out of up to 6,000 coins.

And, as noted, there is also a scatter symbol involved in the game. This is the aerosol can of sprayable snow, and these offer pay outs wherever they show up on the reels, multiplying the total bet stakes by a certain amount, which increases with the more scatters in view. Five of them showing up on the reels offers up a multiplier of times 80.

Finally, the last special feature is the ‘Gift Grab’ bonus round, and this is triggered by the bonus icon of the snowman jack-in-the-box, also known as ‘Rappin’ Jack Frosts’. Three, four or five of these landing in scattered locations on the reels will take you to the bonus screen. In this round, you’re able to win up to 32,250 coins. You’ll be presented with 30 different gifts, and behind each one is a random bonus win amount. It’s simply a click and reveal round.

      Christmas without the Rapping

So this game doesn’t really take the theme to its maximum potential, instead just touching lightly on the rap side of things while pushing the Christmas side of things more so. That’s all fine though, because on the whole, it’s an intriguing and entertaining game to play.
