However, they are also a dab hand at creating some games that will bring back many a memory of the games that used to dominate pubs and amusement arcades up and down the country. ‘Cherry Red’ is one of these retro slot games and it has a lot going for it.

You know what, this game really does put a rather silly smile on my face. Back in the day the cherry was ever-present but always seemed to be the lowest paying symbol. I used to have a little moan to myself when they came along and gave me a rather small win. I’d much preferred to have seen a 7 or a Bar end up on the single pay-line that would guarantee me a larger win.

Here though, the cherry has been given a massive promotion and it’s at the top of the tree. Get three of these on the pay-line and you’ll win either 800x or 1600x your coin stake. With this game, you have the option of playing with either one coin or two. How many you stake simply determines how much you are going to be able to win on a single spin of the reels.

This is a three-reel game that has just the one pay-line and that means there’s a lot able to be packed into the screen. The all-important reels don’t take up too much space at all and can be seen in the top left-hand corner of the screen.  The symbols in this game are the traditional ones that used to rule the roost. There’s the bell (based on the liberty bell from the USA), the single, double and triple bars and the Red 7’s.

Directly below that is the Cherry Red logo, Cherry in yellow for some reason and Red in well, red. Rather than the paytable being on a second screen as is the case in the more complex games you play, it’s visible here on the right-hand side of the screen.

For a change, it’s the bell which is the lowest paying symbol and just one of them on a pay-line wins you either 2x or 4x your stake. Two takes that win up to 5x or 10x and three wins you 20x or 40x your coin level.  Any three bars win you 3x or 6x and can help keep your account balance ticking over.

Keep an eye out for the triple bars as three of those will win you either 50x or 100x. The red 7’s is definitely worth getting as three will see you being given either 100x or 200x your coin level.

It’s an easy game to operate so no worries on that score. All the operating buttons are down the bottom of the screen enabling you to set your stake for each spin of the reels. The coin values in this game are €0.25, €0.50, €1.00, €2.00 and €5.00.  You can either bet one coin or two, to set this simply select ‘Bet One’ or ‘Bet Max.’ That means the minimum stake for playing this game is €0.25 and the maximum €10 if betting max at the top coin value.

Wild Cherries

The cherry really is important in this game because it’s also the wild symbol. A bit of a modern touch to the game and can help get you some good wins. That’s because the wild can substitute for other symbols to hopefully complete some winning combinations for you.

If one of them creates a winning combination, then that win is doubled. However, if it’s two that manage it, then you’ll see that win quadrupled so the cherry is really a symbol you’ll want to see on the pay-line as much as possible.

When it comes to recreating a classic game, this really does a great job. It has the classic look to it and despite the lack of any bonus features, it’s still entertaining to play and there are some good wins to be had from it.
