I bet when you were young there happened to be a few times when you fancied running away with the circus. Parents must have kept rather close eyes on their loved ones when the circus was in town.

      Big Top Slot Review

I bet when you were young there happened to be a few times when you fancied running away with the circus. Parents must have kept rather close eyes on their loved ones when the circus was in town. Well no need to run away and learn how to juggle, instead try your luck on the ‘Big Top’ video slot game from Microgaming.

This may be based on a circus but it seems to be one that is rather quiet. For starters there’s no progressive jackpot to be dreaming of winning Nor is there a bonus round that gives the player the chance to build up their account balance via a free spins or pick ’em game. All a bit disappointing really, it’s a bit like going to the circus and finding out there are no clowns or trapeze artists.

‘Big Top’ has a total of five reels and three rows of symbols but just the nine paylines to win some cash on. The minimum cost of playing is £0.25 and the maximum a total of £45. Not a bad range really though really high rollers might be a tad disappointed. Just take a look at your playing budget and only bet what you can afford to lose.  After all you wouldn’t pay for the priciest seats at the circus if you couldn’t afford them would you?

      Animals Galore

With the game having a circus theme, it’s no surprise at all that it’s a bright and cheerful looking one. The symbols certainly put you in the mood to be playing for a fair while and hopefully the wins will start to come in.

The symbols themselves are a mixture of circus-related ones and the ten to Ace playing cards.. Theme related ones include the ringmaster lion in his hat, a performing seal, a colourful clown, a monkey and an bicycle riding elephant. How you train them to do that is beyond me.There’s also the Big Top logo which pays 5000x your line stake if you can get five of them on a payline.

Circuses always seem to have lots of clowns and this one is no exeption. As well as the standard clown there’s also a far more important one. Not because he knows some better jokes (unlikely) but because he’s the wild in ‘Big Top.’ He can substitute for other symbols in the game (not the scatter which is the monkey) to help create a winning line for you. It’s just the straight value of the win here, there’s no multiplier attached to any wins created by the wild.

The monkey scatter isn’t as influential as in other games due to the lack of a bonus game to trigger. Five of them anywhere on the reels pays you 50x your total stake so keep an eye out for it.

This certainly isn’t the most complicated of games you’ll come across. If you’re new to slot games then this is a good gentle introduction to them for you, a bit like ‘Lucky Twins’ and ‘What a Hoot.’. Just a case of spinning the reels and hoping to get your hands on some of the good prizes available.  It is still well worth having a look through the paytable though and checking the rules.

You’ll find all the control buttons for the game down the bottom of the screen. It’s possible to play ‘Big Top’ in either regular or expert mode. The basic difference is that in expert mode you have an autoplay feature to utilize. Either just set up to 500 automated spins or go for a more complicated setting where you can set the time gap between each spin of the reels. It can also stop the spins when certain conditons are met, such as after a big win you want to keep.

      Bonus, What Bonus?

Those of you looking to play bonus games such as free spins or Pick ’em games are in for a disappointment here. There’s no bonus game at all so just a case of hoping the wins flow for you in regular play.

      Conclusion

A bright and cheerful game with an enjoyable sountrack but the lack of a bonus game might put you off. Newcomers will enjoy this before moving onto the games that need a little bit more working out and the need to read reviews such as those on our site. Still  the chance to get some healthy wins so give it a go.
