Coffin up the Cash Slot Review

Coffin up the Cash may sound like the name for an anti-smoking campaign – especially since it’s a product of Ash Gaming – but it’s actually a lot more fun than that. This morbid slot milks classic horror tropes to delightful effect.

Coffin up the Cash is more than just a clever name: it’s also a clever game. Spooky, funny and highly playable, there’s a lot to love about this bone-rattling slot. Think The Addams Family with a dash of Emily Strange and a twist of Boris Karloff. It’s camp, kitsch and creepy in the best possible way.

The reels, housed in a standard 5×3 grid, are framed by a border of bones, with skulls posted at all four corners. In the background, a classic horror landscape including a full moon, crow, graveyard and haunted house on a hill supply all the obligatory horror staples. As for the gaming symbols, the playing card values cling to daggers, skulls, tombstones and candles, while special symbols include a bat, creepy looking girl and ghoulish looking guy.

      Tough Display

The display text can be a little tough to make out due to the slime green typeface that’s deployed, but in fairness the game wouldn’t be the same without oodles of horror dripping from every last pixel of screen space. Coffin up the Cash features 20 paylines which can be adjusted along with the stake per line – that’s stake as in the pointy wooden thing you’d drive into Dracula’s heart, in case you were wondering. The sound effects aren’t much to shout about – the odd croak of the crow and groan of an organ are about as exciting as it gets – but thankfully the graphics go a long way towards atoning for this.

      Stylish Cards

As mentioned earlier, the playing card symbols that grace – or more often disgrace – so many slots are present and accounted for in Coffin up the Cash, but here they’ve been inventively styled. Five of a kind will be worth between 100 and 150 on average.

Higher up the chain, five Frankenstein’s monsters are worth 500 and five werewolves are worth 1,000. The wild symbol appears as Dracula, appropriately, who’ll perform the usual duties expected of him: drinking the blood of all and sundry and substituting for regular playing symbols except for scatter while applying a 2x multiplier in the process.

      Ghoulishly Good

Scoop the jackpot with five Draculas and you’ll be awarded a cool 3,000. The scatter symbol appears as a coffin aka Dracula’s bed. Three of them in view will activate the bonus game, which operates as a shell game, only here you’re obliged to watch the coffins move before selecting the one you deem to be holding the highest prize.

There’s also the Vampire’s Hoard Bonus that sees you tasked with walking gingerly towards the coffin stuffed with cash without disturbing the painting of the vampiress who glowers at you from her spot in the hall.

It’ll take three to five castle symbols to activate this feature. Land five and you’ll stand to win between 3,000 and 10,000 in the ensuing bonus game. Including Dracula, Coffin up the Cash boasts four special symbols in all, the last of which is the bat. The bat is the game’s secondary scatter after the coffin and is the awarder of free spins. Three bats are worth 10 free spins, four are worth 25 and five are worth an extremely generous 50 free spins. When collecting free spins, all wins are tripled except for the Vampire’s Hoard Bonus and Cash Coffins scatter.

Things That Go Bump in the Night

Coffin up the Cash is another fine effort from Ash Gaming, who don’t seem to make bad slots. Some of their games are simpler than others admittedly, while others, like this little number, feature epic graphics marred only by forgettable sound effects. In this instance, Ash Gaming have gone all out to equip Coffin up the Cash with bonuses and features aplenty that run the full gamut of horror staples.

Whatever you’re into – zombies, vampires or simply things that go bump in the night – you’ll find thrills aplenty in this atmospheric slot.
