But, is 50 Dragons slot the right slot for you? After all, Aristocrat does have a wide range of reputable slot titles to choose from.

Today, we’re going to answer this question by taking an in-depth look at the 50 Dragons game. We’re going to examine their payouts, bonus game, graphics, and more.

      Pros and Cons

      • Decent payouts
      • An Aristocrat classic
      • Easy and user friendly controls
      • Not much in-game features

      50 Dragons Slot History

The 50 Dragons slot was released by Aristocrat in 2005. Due to its Asian theme and in-game features, the slot quickly became a popular choice at online casinos.

The game took many of its features from Asia. For example, several symbols are based on animals that you can find in Asian culture. (1)

In Japanese culture, the koi carp is a highly respected and very symbolic fish closely tied to the country's national identity.

50 Dragons also incorporates red into its slot, a common color that you can find in countries throughout the continent. (2)

Red, for example is believed to be a color of passion in Korea and has long been associated with the concept of blood in Japan, China, and many other Asian countries.

How to Win at the 50 Dragons Slot

In order to win when playing 50 Dragons, you’ll need to match the same symbol at least three times in a payline.

When you do this, you’ll be paid out according to the symbol’s multiplier and the number of symbols in the payline.

      Game Rules

      • The game rules are quite simple. Match a payline and you get paid according to your bet. Before you can spin the reels, you must place a bet either equal to the minimum bet but no more than the maximum bet.

      • As for the slot itself, the setup is pretty simple. 50 Dragons features 5 reels, 4 rows, and 50 paylines. Considering that most online slots will only have 15-20 paylines, 50 Dragons offers more winning opportunities than most titles.

      • 50 Dragons’ paylines are also adjustable, meaning that you can change the number of paylines that you bet on. You can bet on 1 payline or you can bet on all 50 paylines.

However, we recommend betting on all 50 paylines. The reason is that if you bet on less than 50 paylines and you hit a payline, you’re not guaranteed a payout.

      Betting Options

50 Dragons’ betting range is quite large with the minimum bet being $0.50 and the maximum bet being $100.

This means that, even though you have to bet on every payline, the minimum bet is so small that you can play whatever playstyle you like.

If you’re a low-stakes bettor and like to keep your money close to you, perfect! You can bet the minimum bet per spin and get the most bang for your buck.

If you’re a high-stakes bettor and like to bet big, then you can bet $100 per spin and receive generous payouts when you do hit paylines.

Therefore, no matter what type of playstyle you like, 50 Dragons’ large betting range ensures that you can have fun when playing the slot.

      50 Dragons Symbols and Values

There are 13 symbols that you can find when playing 50 Dragons. Of these thirteen symbols, twelve will pay some type of reward while one symbol is only used for in-game features.

The lowest-paying symbols are the 9, 10, Jack, and Queen. All of these will pay out only 10X your line bet if you match three in a payline.

On the other hand, the highest-paying symbol is the golden dragon. Matching five of these in a payline will pay you 1,000X your line bet.

The game also features a wild and scatter symbol. The wild symbol is a pearl which can substitute for all symbols except the scatter. Wilds can only appear on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5.

If you’re looking for a scatter symbol, you’ll need to look for a gold ingot. Ingots appear on reels 1, 2, and 3 only. However, landing three or more of these will trigger the bonus game.

      50 Dragons In-Game Features

When it comes to 50 Dragons’ in-game features, it’s pretty limited. The slot has a bonus game, but that’s about it. It would’ve been nice to see additional features like expanding wilds or cascading reels. However, none of these features are present whenever you play 50 Dragons.

      Land 5 Golden Dragons

Unfortunately, 50 Dragons does not have a progressive jackpot nor does it have a regular jackpot. Rather, the most you can get paid is if you manage to land five of the golden dragons together. This will pay you 1,000X your line bet. Seeing as the maximum bet is $100, you can still win quite a bit, especially if you adjust the paylines to your liking.

      Bonus Game

The bonus game is activated when you land three or more scatters on the reels. Once triggered, you’re given ten free spins. Afterwards, wilds are added to reels 2, 3, 4, and 5. This gives you more opportunities to win. If another three scatters appear, you’ll be given an additional 5 spins. This can only be retriggered once.

      RTP and Volatility

50 Dragons has an RTP of 94.79% and a medium-high volatility. An RTP of 94.79% means that, for every $1,000 spent in the long run, you can expect to win back around $947.90 in winnings. Considering that the average slot has an RTP of 96%, this puts 50 Dragons barely under what you would expect most slots to pay out.

However, you shouldn’t use RTP as your sole way of determining how much you’ll be paid out from a slot. The reason is that RTP is an average estimate for the long run. Therefore, in the short run, luck plays a big factor in how much you can win. For example, you might hit a series of paylines, putting you over the projected amount you’re supposed to win. Similarly, you might go on a cold-streak, causing you to lose more than you might expect.

As a result, it’s never a good idea to determine payouts based on what the RTP says. In the short run, you can easily win more than what the RTP says. Rather, use the RTP as a way of comparing between slots so that you can see which ones pay best. 50 Dragons’ medium-high volatility means that there’s more risk involved. However, the payouts are high enough to make the risk worth it.

For reference, a medium volatility slot has better payouts and more risk than low volatility slows. On the same end, a medium volatility slot has smaller payouts and less risk than high volatility slots. This puts medium-high volatility slots higher than medium volatility slots when it comes to payouts and risk. However, the payouts and risk still do not top high volatility slots.

      Play 50 Dragons on Mobile

Because of how popular the 50 Dragons slot is, you can expect to find this title at your local mobile casino. Simply find which online casinos are offering 50 Dragons. Then, boot up a mobile browser, log into the casino, and start playing!

Some online casinos might offer an app. However, this is a little more tricky. For one, only Android devices tend to offer apps. With Androids, Google Play only just recently announced that they would begin to allow real money casino apps on their store.

Luckily, if you have an Android, you can download the app from a casino site if that casino offers one. While a little more complicated, you’ll still end up with a casino app on your home screen.

Because of how popular mobile casino gaming has become, just about every top casino has made sure that their games are mobile-compatible. Therefore, no matter if you’re at the beach or a library, you can play the 50 Dragons slot as long as you have a mobile device and internet connection!

      Overall Rating

Here at Gamblib, we like to compile our overall rating of a slot game based on four areas: user experience, game features, payouts, and sounds & visuals.

We applied these ratings to the 50 Dragons slot. That way, we can come up with a definitive ranking to help you determine whether or not you want to put your money here.

      User Experience: 3/5

In our opinion, the 50 Dragons setup was a little dated. We were able to find all the information we needed. However, buttons weren’t in the areas we were normally used to and simple information like paytables took more clicks than we liked.

Luckily, the game wasn’t laggy. But, overall, we think that the user experience could be better.

      Game Features: 3/5

To us, the in-game features were pretty plain and didn’t offer much. Aside from a free spins bonus game, there was nothing else to really look forward to.

This meant that the game was pretty lackluster at times and we found ourselves bored after a few hours of play.

The free spins game itself was really solid. Despite only being able to retrigger the feature once, we still really liked all the unique features within the bonus game.

      Payouts: 4/5

50 Dragons’ payouts were pretty good even though they didn’t have a set jackpot. It was great to see that the smallest symbols paid out 200X your line bet if you managed to land enough symbols.

This put 50 Dragons’ payouts above other Aristocrat slots. During our session, we never had any issues with being paid, especially since just landing three symbols usually helped us break even.

      Sounds & Visuals: 2/5

The sounds and visuals for the 50 Dragons slot were quite disappointing. For one, the designs and graphics were outdated. Most features looked boring or simple and the red background didn’t really have anything else to add.

Furthermore, there was no background music and the other noises were cliche. Whenever we hit a payline, we heard the same sound that other older slots make.

We wish that the Aristocrat team would’ve put more effort into their audio and graphics for 50 Dragons. This alone would have made the game much more enjoyable.

      Final Rating: 3/5

50 Dragons is a great pastime if you want to explore new slots. Its Asian theme is commonly seen around the online gambling industry and plenty of the symbols take their inspiration from Asian culture.

The symbols pay out pretty well and we had no issues with making money whenever we played 50 Dragons. Even if we had a cold streak, a few good spins always put us in the green.

Unfortunately, the game can get tiring at times. There were several instances where we got bored simply because there wasn’t anything else we could experience in the game.

Moreover, the sounds and visuals as well as the user experience were both pretty dated. There was no background music to enjoy and the graphics were not as detailed or colorful as other slots we’ve reviewed.

Nevertheless, 50 Dragons is still a great slot to check out, especially if you want to take a break from other faster-paced slots.

Aristocrat is known for producing high-quality slots. One of these is 50 Dragons and if you have some time on your hands, we recommend you check out the slot for yourself.
